They met in 1983. Elias was doing a stint as road crew and went on a leg of Black Flag's tour. They fucked a few times and began a friendship that continued through Hank leaving the band and Elias pursuing his acting career. It's not the easiest friendship and a rift develops in 1991 when Henry's best friend is murdered in front of him and Henry slips into a heavy depression that Elias can't penetrate. They pick back up in 1994 and the relationship goes in stops and starts, skimming past friendship but not deepening enough to be a real commitment.
Henry's tour in 1998 plus Elias' vocal disgust over Henry's relationship with Robert Downey Jr. in 1999 bring things to a head.
There's a complete deterioration when Elias takes on the role of a second Dominant in a triad, and Henry bluntly tells him it's an unhealthy relationship.
5 years later...

Henry comes back into Elias' life through his new membership at the Establishment

Things bump along, an uneasy truce, until Elias goes home to take care of his sick mother.
Henry keeps himself busy but finally, miserable and missing his boy, makes a trip to NYC to see him... and Robert.
Elias' mother dies and Henry tries to help him pick up the pieces.
But sometimes things are broken...
2009
...broken in such a way that they won't fit back together.
2010
A year later and Henry is still hurting and Elias is still gone.
Henry gets tired of Elias not answering and goes to see him. They are both taken by surprise.
Elias is willing to find a way to make things fit back together.
2011
Henry is willing to settle for anything to have something with Elias - even if it isn't really working for either of them.
If wishes could come true - Elias would be Henry's boy again.
Believe it or not, Robbie is giving Henry advice on his relationship with Elias.
Henry suggests that they try to start over; by dating first.
Henry asks Elias out on a date...to something he hates. Elias says he's trying too hard.
