So, I heard this story on NPR today.
A group of environmental activists found an orphaned baby seal on the beach near San Francisco and took it in, rehabilitated it, nursed it back to health and general baby seal happiness. Then they decided to take it out and let it go back into the wild, and since the San Francisco bay is polluted and, apparently, full of invasive species, they took it out to the Farallon Islands to let it go.
So they go out on a boat and they took the baby seal and happily let it out into the sea, and then a giant great white shark jumped up and swallowed it in one bite.
I found this story very inspirational, obviously. |

Okay, remind me. I've modded and killed 5 RPGs so far. So, starting a new one...bad, right?
But I'm jonesing for so bad and miss my characters. And wouldn't a Harry Potter universe wehre the war has dragged on into a sort of Cold War be awesome? Intrigue, politicking, magical spies, double and triple agents, magical mutually assured destruction oh help me I suck at modding and don't really have the time. |

This is all I'm gonna say for my Flist.
I've hung out on lol_meme a lot, I don't hang out there 24/7 anymore but I still do hang out there, yep, it's hurt me and creeped me out in the past, but I still do hang out there. Because it's funny and it gives me a place to vent my emo and OMFG addictive.
If you dislike it because it's been mean to you, I get you totally, even though I obviously keep going back. If you dislike it (instead of just not getting it) because it's stupid, at the risk of paraphrasing Kevin Smith, 'IT'S NOT FOR YOU' and, well, you don't have to hang out there. Seriously? If you don't like it cos it doesn't float your boat, it doesn't float your boat and that's that.
If I had any money whatsoever right now, I would donate some to JF if it would help. And I think a lot of the current issues between the meme and JF boiled down to serious miscommunication and culture clash.
And I just really really wish that I wasn't the only Manics fan over there so I could babble without being the most obvious thing that ever was obvious.
And.
Thing.
That's all.
ETA: One more thing. There was a comment a few weeks back or something where someone asked for links to good bandslash, and I was the one that was recced. And it was anon, so I couldn't let my neuroses pretend that it was just someone sucking up to me. And, you know, sad as the thought is, I think that one moment made me happier than almost anything else that's happened to me on the internet.

There's gotta be some term for the fact that I just refused to buy a single off E-Bay because the seller's little write up thing referred to Richey Edwards as the 'front man' for the Manics, but I ain't sure what, exactly, it is.
Pretty sure it's not nice. Except, maybe, to other people in fandom.
ETA: Oh, is Scribbles around, again? Call me when she does something interesting, all right?
