Con envy is a dangerous thing. [07 Aug 2007|11:50pm]
Sigh. I have con envy again. It comes it bouts which, at their worst, make me consider selling all my worldly belongings on ebay, dropping out of school, and dedicating my life to running about the country and hanging out in hotels with unredeemable dorks.

Anyway, I know this is far in advance but as prereg has already started and I have an absolutely raging case of con envy from all the people now back from Prophecy, I thought I'd make this post. Next summer there are going to be two Harry Potter conventions, Portus (run by the people who did Nimbus 2003, The Witching Hour, and Lumos) and Terminus (run by the people who did Pheonix Rising).

Portus is in Dallas, July 10-13 2008. Terminus is in Chicago, August 7-11 2008. I'm not sure where I'll be next summer yet (Katie and I are going to try to get internships somewhere, so I honestly could end up pretty much anywhere) but I suspect Chicago would be easier to get to. Terminus is also cheaper. I'll have to wait to register until I can at least somewhat work out what next summer will involve, and by that point Portus will run me $220, and Terminus $160-$180. Both of those are pretty big factors, but I also suspect that a lot more people I know will be going to Portus than Terminus.

ANYWAY, your thoughts on cons, please show them to me.

I'm going to try to start using all three simultaniously, now. Not moving off lj, because dammit I like it there, but I'm doing what I can to stay active in a moving fandom. :/ Plus, though I somehow doubt my journal will end up on the chopping block (since all my smut somehow ends up artsy fartsy and fading to black :P) I'd like a backup just in case they decide they don't like those child molesting anime fans next or something.

I just hope everyone ends up being in the same place, rather than scattered to the ends of the interwebs.

The silver lining, I suppose, is that I now have FOUR journals to distract me from doing anything productive! So please friend me on any of these sites you have a journal.
