When it rains...
The company I applied to last week sent me an email saying that they couldn't offer me the position at this time and how they will keep my resume on file. I'm a little disappointment, but I saw another administrative job that I would love to apply too.

Laid-off
Well it looks like I am going to be laid-off today. The company I work for appears to be going under. They have no new orders. Not one and the ones that they did have were all canceled last week and they have no prospects. I don't think they have enough money in the bank to keep them going until the economy picks up. Right now with their current level of spending, they have enough to get them through to June/July... May/June if they can't do something to reduce their tax bill. They make capital equipment so they are the last to recover whenever the economy takes a down swing and I don't see the economy picking up so soon.

They have to start reducing cost in order to stretch the money as much as possible and right now they don't need two people in the front office. There just isn't enough to do. They've been having a lot of closed door meetings the last few days, which is not a good sign.

I'll be really surprised if they don't cut me lose today.

Good thing I have already started searching for a new job. *g* I will still have money coming in with the two rooms I rent out, but it's not nearly enough to cover all my expenses (mortgage, etc). I'm glad I have my savings and that I have family members that are financially comfortable, so if worst come to worst, I can ask them for help.

I see this as a great adventure.

Too excited to sit still
I made it through the first hurdle. I got an email reply from the company I applied to saying that they are reviewing my resume. That they will be in contact with the candidate next week and I will be hearing from them soon. It looks like I may be getting an interview.

The company I currently work for is not doing so well, (so it's a good thing that I spontaneously decided to apply for another job) and it doesn't help that the co-owner is having the company pay for an inordinate amount of personal stuff. Ever since Rose left, he has been getting worse and worse. It's disgusting.

I am off to check craigslist....intentionally this time.

Wish me luck
I applied for a job that is similar to the one I have now except that it's with a cooler company that does profit sharing and with a substantial increase in salary. If I get it, it means that I can walk to work (yeah!). It also means I will make enough money that I can survive with one roommate instead of two. I can turn the extra room into a library/guest room. I can finally unpack my books! Any visitors would no longer have to sleep on the coach in the living room.

FYI, I always offer my bed, but not a single person in my family appreciates an (old style) futon. They give me that look. You know the one that questions your sanity and insist on sleeping on the sofa.
