Oh god, I've found another one of THOSE fics. It hits everything on the checklist.
- Hermione is the only person who sees the hypocrisies and problems of the wizarding world
- All of the dialogue sounds as if it's coming from one person, and that one person speaks extremely formally
- Harry goes to Gringotts and is way richer than he ought to be, with multiple vaults, extensive properties, and loose jewels
- Dumbledore lied about this to Harry
- Harry makes incredibly shrewd decisions about what to do with this wealth
- The goblins are impressed with him
- He may have fixed his eyes
- Harry directs Kreacher and Winky around like he's been commanding servants his whole life
- He realizes that even though he hated it when he was alone with Hermione in DH, he was actually in love with her as well
- They're both contemptuous of Ron
- Ginny and Ron did this secret bonding thing with Harry and Hermione in order to serve their selfish desires ...
- ... but it actually just means that Hermione can choose whoever she wants, while Ginny must be Harry's concubine
- ... and Harry can have a harem
- Dumbledore was actually behind this
- Harry is described as the head of his family
- Harry is a mouthpiece for the author to say things like, "The British Isles are not the entire world"
- Luna is not in character at all
- There is oddly frank talk about sex
- Harry is actually "Lord Potter"
- Harry and Hermione go into negotiations with the new Ministry
- The wizarding world is even more shockingly misogynist, racist, and brutal than you would have imagined from the books
- Harry makes Ginny strip in front of her family

HAHAHAHAHA! Its so bad its horrid... I mean its totally within the spirit of the books; slavery, vengeance, lust on every level...
if the ending was that bad for him, why not write and entire story of their own, original characters and all that that better suits their taste? Why try and butcher a classic just to show people you are a misogynist git???
It's not even amazing in its badness, like HP and the Sisters Black - it's just terrible.
Because then the other people who hated the epilogue will gather round and pat him on the back and reassure him that it totally makes more sense than the book, man.
This was the first really horrible (rather than just WTF) item in the list:

But this is just completely inexplicable:

I mean--why? WHY?
And I've seen that so many times - except for the "Dumbledore was behind it" part, normally it's Molly in that role.
To show that she's just a worthless slut, I assume - you know, she was asking for it, etc.
Uh, wouldn't that actually just show that Harry has become a complete asswipe?
Well, yes, but in the mind of the crazy it seems to be translated that way.
Does this "author" win the current game of Bad Fic Bingo?
You know, I think they squeezed them into the fewest amount of chapters, so ... yes!
It was recced on ![[info]](http://www.journalfen.net/img/userinfo.gif) crack_broom by marie_j_granger: Why everyone should read this: This has gotten surprisingly negative reviews at FA, but I think the concepts are quite creative. Most of the negativity objected to its AU nature. Features Manipulative Dumbledore (even from beyond the grave) and puts a different spin on DH and even HBP.
If this was the "real" epilogue, I'm glad JKR went with the fake one because I would have wondered who all these new characters suddenly were.
Saw this while reading your other entries. :)
DrT has a pretty decent reputation, in my view, for most of his fics. But some of the more recent ones have kind of gone a little OTT, such as the "When Vernon Didn't Miss" fic.
I really like his "Younger Potter Twin" fic, because it's mild by the standards of his fics which seem to involve a lot of male fantasying about multiple girlfriends (in YPT Harry has just ONE girlfriend), and sometimes weird fetishes.
I did read the "Real Epilogue" fic and I'm surprised I completely forgot or skipped over the part where he makes Ginny strip. That definitely feels gratuitous to me, and kind of dulls my enthusiasm for his fics in general if that's the direction he's going to start taking his stuff. | |
