Maybe I should unjoin all of my comms on JF aside from the STFU and Sparklefield. I feel like they just ... bring out the worst in me. I'm going to try a filter for now that just blocks out the f_w umbrella comms (plus UFB, since there's such a large crossover) and see how that goes.
ETA: Incidentally, it's very annoying to be worried about a comment you're waiting for and then see you've got a new JF email and then it's just freaking spam. |

LOL about the spam but what's going on? I have to admit I've only been participating in STFU recently as most of what's going on F_W is stuff I know very little about...
It's nothing big, just ... whenever I get around to looking at my flist here and click on the comments page to something like fandom_lounge or what have you, I inevitably get super annoyed at what appears to me like people being angry and bitchy for the sake of being angry and bitchy. Either I post something nasty and regret it later (as today, only I deleted within seconds and apologized), or I bite it back and just seethe inwardly at what are usually the same people. I like being able to disagree without feeling I have to frame myself more angrily/drastically than I intend just as pre-emptive defense! That's one of the nice things about the STFU: so many people have radically differing opinions. Someone loves R/Hr, someone else thinks it's boring; someone thinks Snape is loathsome, someone else finds him fascinating.
Seriously, though, I just checked my email and I had 8 JF emails. Nerve wracking! Then I clicked and it turned out 6 were spam, the stupid kind that's just keyboard mashing.
I just got 15 spam JF notifications this morning. 15!
No, it's not anything very interesting, unfortunately. I haven't been JFing for the past few days, and then as soon as I come back I get annoyed with people. And I feel like there's a particular group of people that gets me annoyed just with their usernames, and I can avoid them by avoiding the F_W umbrella comms. Sadly that also means avoiding UFB, because they've filled it up to the point where I feel like the bulk of the crowd treats it just like F_W. I don't mind arguing with people over pointless things, but that's what meme is for, you know? | |
