When she sees the article, though, there's an instant of utter panic. Without thinking, Jess calls her Daddy, gnawing on her bottom lip when his phone kicks over to voicemail. "Daddy? Are you really okay? I mean, really-really okay? I know you said it wasn't anything serious, it's only a couple of bruised ribs, but I saw this article... You're okay, right?" |

When she catches no sight of Simon, Jess sits back in her chair again with a little huff, one hand toying with her glass. Waiting really is the hardest part. | 6:45 pm | Jess and Jon Wolfe est_nelson - Time in the Relaxation Tent[Players only; Occurs in the week before Halloween] “Here, I want to show you my room,” Jon says, dragging Jess by the hand to the stairs. She’s never seen it fully finished, even though they’ve hung out plenty since then. “You have to see the Relaxation Tent, it’s so cool.” Past the playroom, he opens the door--which now has a big yellow sign on it that says “Jon’s Room, Knock Before Entering”--and ushers her inside. Following gamely as Jon pulls her along, Jess asks, “Relaxation tent?” That’s not something she’s heard before. ( Is that, like, where you do yoga and meditate? ) Feedback welcome. | 12:18 am | Jess leaves a letter for her Daddy ( vance)[Current] An envelope marked 'Daddy' is left on the vanity for Vance to find when he gets up and brushes his teeth. Daddy, I woke up int he middle of the night last night. I'm not sure what it was that woke me, but I remember feeling your arm around me and your breath on the back of my neck. There was a long time where waking up like that - so close, so intimate with someone - would have sent me into full flight/panic mode... But with you, all I felt was safe, warm, cherished. Thank you - for being in my life...for not letting me run away. I love you, Your Jess P.S. This has made me kind of thinky, so I'm taking the pigs to the beach house for the day. |

| 9:31 pm | Jess est_alba and Chris vance - Kitten[Current] It's a lazy sort of day. Sure, there are still little projects to do around the house, but there are probably going to be little around-the-house projects for the next several months. Jess hadn't wanted to do anything but snuggle right back down under the duvet when she'd woken up. In the end, she'd compromised and padded out to the sunroom, curling up on the small sofa out there. It's heavenly to just doze in the warm light, drowsing away the afternoon. Vance has poured himself a cup of tea, feeling a little drowsy himself. As he wanders from the kitchen, he realizes he hasn't seen much of his little girl today. It takes him a few minutes, but then he spots her and smiles. "Look at you," he murmurs happily, settling next to her and petting a hand down her back. ( Like a kitten purring in the sunshine. ) Feedback welcome. Comments screened. |

| 10:30 pm | Jess and garrett_hedlund - Should I know you?[Players Only; Backdated - Occurs Aug. 1] The beach is crowded today, everyone trying to stay cool in the dog days of August. Garrett lifts his board over his head to avoid whacking anyone as he makes his way back up to the secluded little spot he'd secured for himself a few hours ago up by the dunes. He jams his board down in the sand next to his cooler and grabs a towel from the bag he's left sitting on top of it. He rubs it over his face, the terry cloth feeling slightly scratchy to his sun warmed cheeks and forehead. "Ah," he sighs, dragging the towel down his face, neck and chest. | 9:21 pm | Jess and vance - Fixing Up the House[Backdated to the end of March, after Vance and Jess got the house] Reaching up, Jess brushes some of the hair that's escaped her ponytail off of her forehead with the back of a hand. She surveys her handiwork proudly, paintbrush clenched in her fist. "I've finished the trim in here, Daddy!" she calls, heading towards the room down the hall where Vance is painting the ceiling. She watches him for a few seconds before loosing a low, appreciative purr, "Looking good!" Vance is stretched upward, the long handle of the extended roller making wide swathes of steel gray over the yellowed white that the previous owners put up. His t-shirt rides up over his torso as he paints, shoulders tightening the fabric across his chest. He exhales as he lowers the roller, grinning as he catches her staring. "Thank you," he purrs back. Jon squeals as he opens the front door to Simon's house, grinning at Jess standing there on the front step and tugging her into his arms. "Come in, come in, it's so good to see you!" Squeezing him back, Jess lets Jon lead her into the house. "It's good to see you, too!" she laughs, looking around, "This is gorgeous, Jon!" Just then she remembers the package in her arms. "Oh! | 10:29 pm | Jess and vance - Valentine's Day[Occurs Valentine's Day] Vance buttons the hunter jacquard vest carefully over the tie and checks his hair one more time. It's a black tuxedo, something that won't be incredibly out of place (white is the color his bad guys wear, and he's just not the white-tux type) but that matches Jess's peacock green-and-royal dress. He's hoping more than anything else that it's not too twee, but after all, it was his idea. "Are we almost ready, love?" he calls out. One of the dogs sniffs at his unfamiliar shoes and he grins down. "I don't like it, either," he stage-whispers, ( but I think we're dancing tonight. ) |

"Jess! You made it!" "I did!" comes Jess' laughing reply as she wraps her arms around her friend, giving her a kiss on the cheek before going on, ( There were two pugs that were unhappy about not being able to come today, too. | 11:43 pm | Jess and vance - Christmas Presents[Backdated to Christmas Day] The holiday's been completely low-key and surprisingly relaxing for Jess. Christmas Eve at the beach with friends, surfing and barbecue and snuggling with her Daddy by the bonfire - utterly perfect. Christmas morning had started a little earlier than she might have hoped, with two pugs in dire need of a walk. But now, with breakfast behind them, she's snugged happily on the sofa with her Daddy, enjoying the fire in her little wood-burning stove. ( Are you ready for your present? ) Feedback welcome.
