This was a hard weekend for those of us who've lost a good mother. It's fun to send flowers to my friends who are moms, but I spent most of the day itself curled up in my tent having quiet time. This week, I've been rebounding from memories with an ungodly amount of time spent on silly websites.
So! That's my question for you: what do you do when you need to make yourself smile a little? My formula involves webcomics, really fudgy brownies, and really over-the-top 80s music. What's your secret? | comments: Leave a comment     |

| I go for my people. Kerri, JJ, you, Jess. Just a phone call or a videochat makes the worst day right again.
And when I can I go to the beach. No problem is ever very big when I look at the ocean and take in its enormity, or think about grains of sand.
Speaking of my people, Kerri says thank you for the beautiful flowers. Your bouquet is bigger than the one I got her. TJJ "bought" her jade earrings though so the flower-eclipsing didn't become an issue. ;) | | (Reply to this) (Thread) |

And that's a good idea, about the beach. I went a lot right after my mom died. Granted, my head was more in the "drowning myself" direction than philosophy, but I think it helped a little.
