Only one hour until the game starts! And aren't you glad that I'll finally stop talking about football come Sunday? ;)

My present for my dad was a big success; I gave him a photo book I've made from the pictures of our Egypt trip, as I found a company that managed to print and ship it so quickly that it arrived just in time this morning. Now I'm lounging around lazily with my netbook while my dad lights the grill. I'm so looking forward to the match, even though my brother S. is the only other who showed up for my dad's birthday - that's what you get for having your birthday on the day of the World Cup half final. ;) But it's still better than watching it all alone. And no matter what, when we get into the final I'll make people go to the huge public viewing area in the city, because if we win, I want to be where the party is. Last time we won the World Cup I was ten, which isn't exactly the age where you go off to party until the next morning - even though back then I at least got an autograph from our then-goalie Bodo Illgner.

Anyway, I'm wearing my lucky team shirt, and we haven't lost yet while I'm wearing it, so Spain will stand no chance no matter what Paul the octopus predicts. *g*

Seems that the law of symmetry has already decided who'll get the Cup... ;)

*sigh*

I'm sad, and somewhat disappointed, but at the same time, still full of love for my team. At this level of football - and let's not forget that we are now one of the four best teams in the world - there are just no big mistakes anymore. At the most, there are small mistakes, and the trick is to make use of those small mistakes. And to be fair, we made more of those small mistakes than Spain.

On the other hand, we are the 2nd youngest team of the entire tournament, with many players who played really really well despite their youth. Now just imagine what might happen in four years, when they will still be young but have the entire experience of this tournament... :)

I just love watching this team play. And I firmly believe that they'll earn their fourth star sometime. Especially Schweinsteiger really, really deserves it. It's amazing to be able to watch a player more or less grow up over the years, to see him demand responsibility and take responsibility and reach this level of skill.

Two years until the next European Championship - and not to forget, the match for the third place on Saturday. Klose might still score two goals and thus also score the first place in the eternal list of World Cup scorers. :)
