Feanor the fish

Fishie pictures )

The flame tetras are just too quick to take good pictures of. Maybe I should try and take a video the next time I catch mosquito larvae for them. No matter how many I catch, it's all gone in two seconds.

I'll probably also buy more plants next week. I planted several valisneria nana along the entire backside of the tank, but somehow they didn't grow. I liked their fragile, thin leaves, but I might just put in some 'normal' valisneria instead in the hope that they will grow, as I want to give the fishes more hiding places.

But something that has grown very well is the java moss which I've put onto the root, which you can see in the one picture of Manwe. There's also some sort of algae growing in there, but that isn't a problem as the Colisa lalia love to eat it.

Dreamwidth seems to have sent out more invitation codes to paid accounts, so I have another code to give away. Comment if you want it. :)

I'm going to try and use the crossposting function this time, let's see if this will work...

My little aquarium is now complete, I got myself a pair of Colisa lalia named Manwë and Varda, and a pair of Apistogramma cacatuoides named Fëanor and Nerdanel.

They are all very peaceful, though the flame tetras become piranhas when I feed them live mosquito larvae. *g* Especially Fëanor is such a joy to watch, I really should try to find the camera and take a few pictures, he's so gorgeous when he's trying to impress or intimidate the others!

I've built myself a small CO2 reactor today as well, which was surprisingly easy and didn't cost me anything, as I had everything needed at home. (An empty coke bottle, a flexible tube, a small plastic container, water, sugar, yeast.) Hopefully, the CO2 will help with the algae that are starting to show up now.
