Egypt picspam

Do you know this feeling of hot exhaust fumes blowing into your face if you stand behind a truck or in a place where a building's ventilation blows out hot air? When we left our plane in Egypt, where it was already dark, it took me several seconds to realize that I was not, in fact, standing in our bus's exhaust fumes, but that the night air *really* was that hot! It must have been well over 30°C that night, and when we reached our hotel and spent our first evening sitting outside at one of the bars, simply sitting there in the heat already leeched out pretty much all energy you had.

Really not dial-up friendly, sorry )

I've almost finished a long post about Egypt, but I haven't yet resized and uploaded the pictures, so that post will have to wait until tomorrow. In an hour, I'll leave to watch the match with friends and family at my future sister in law's house where we'll have a barbecue as well. It seems like Poldi is well enough to play again, so I'm quite hopeful. After all, we beat Argentina in the last World Cup as well (and then Argentina's team tried to beat up our players... *g*). Even our guide in Egypt said goodbye to us when he delivered us to the airport with the assurance that he was certain that we'll beat Argentina with 2:1, inshallah.

It looks like Cacau might not play, but it's enough if Klose and Poldi will score. And the weather is so fine today - 32°C right now, and it's supposed to go up to 35°C - that today seems just made for celebration. :)

I'm back again - actually, I arrived back home yesterday evening, but I've spent most of the evening having dinner with my family and sorting through all our pictures.

It was such a wonderful holiday! I have a new favourite activity, and that is snorkeling among the thousands of fishes at the coral reefs. I'll never again go on vacation to a place where they don't have corals. To swim amidst hundreds of incredibly colorful fishes is such an amazing experience!

We didn't climb Mount Sinai, but we visited the monastery of St. Catherine, and did a snorkeling trip by boat to Ras Mohammed. Unfortunately my dad's new waterproof camera broke after three days, and while he can return it as it is still under warranty, that nevertheless means that we couldn't take as many underwater pictures as we had hoped - but there were some that came out well. I'll do a longer post with pictures later on. :)

For now, a picture that shows exactly what snorkeling there is like, though it is not one of mine:
