My day so far: 5 MEFA reviews written, one RP post finished, one Knoppix CD burned, one sentence of the yuletide fic written.
I'll try and remedy the latter later today, but right now I'm waiting for my sister and Ü. to arrive, who has managed to destroy the harddrive of his notebook on which he has important files for work - without back-up. So either it's shell out 1000€ to have some lab try and recover the files, or hope that it's not a mechanical failure and that either the Knoppix live CD or one of the tools I've downloaded will work.
A Knoppix CD is something everyone should at home, btw. It's a basic version of Linux - and it will run from the CD. You don't need to install anything, just pop in the CD and you have a working OS with the basic neccessities like Firefox and Open Office. If you think you have a virus or a trojan, if you can't open a folder anymore or get strange bluescreens, if Windows refuses to work - just put in the CD and you can at least backup your files and try to find a way to salvage your system. :)
You can download the iso of the latest release here and burn the image to a CD, or if you are not quite sure how to do that, I think you can also order them from several websites for very little money. It's a very helpful thing to have around.
