FIC: Like A Sip Of Joie

My sore throat has developed into a full cold with clogged up sinuses. At least I still had an almost full pack of Sinupret left from the last cold. Instead of writing, I have been playing Super Mario on the Wii... :(

But I still have the last story I wrote for Yuletide to post. I can never resist the Kushiel prompts, and I really wish there were more fic for the books.

Title: Like A Sip Of Joie
Fandom: Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel series
Pairing: Mavros/OMC
Rating: NC-17
Contains canonical bdsm
Summary: Like a sip of joie it would be to take this one's innocence and feel him yield to his will, accept pleasure and pain with equal willingness.

FIC: If On A Yuletide Night, A Reader

Title: If On A Yuletide Night, A Reader
Rating: PG
Fandom: Italo Calvino - If on a Winter's Night a Traveler
Summary: You have just opened your email folder, glad to have escaped family at last for some time alone to read the special Yuletide story some kind person has written only for you.
Written for livrelibre in the Yuletide 2009 challenge.

Yes, this is indeed that crazy postmodern meta fic I wrote as a yuletide treat - I just could not resist when I saw that someone had actually requested Italo Calvino's If on a Winter's Night a Traveler. I wasn't sure I could do it justice, but I really wanted to try. This is one of the reasons I love Yuletide, as I never would have thought of writing something like this without the challenge, and even though I think that this is a little rushed and I kind of wish I had had more time, I still really enjoyed writing this, and was completely blown away that I actually got ten comments on this.

Warnings: Slavery, rape
Fandom: Carol Berg's Transformation series
Pairing: Aleksander/Seyonne
Written for sometimesophie in the Yuletide 2009 challenge.

Yuletide Recs batch 2

More yuletide recs! I'm now through 2/3rds of the Archive - I had hoped to get through it all before the author reveal, but I'm not sure if I will manage that last third tomorrow.

Anyway, there are lots of great stories, and this time I even managed a few of the longer ones.

Yuletide Recs batch 1

Following my favourite Yuletide tradition, I've spent what little free time I had over the hectic Christmas days in bed with my netbook, gorging on Yuletide fic (leaving comments on everything I read because especially with these obscure fandoms, there might just be an audience of 3 or 4 for a story, so if you read Yuletide fic and enjoy it, please leave a comment! :)).

I've made my way through Fandoms A-G now, plus those favourite fandoms I jump on the minute I see the archive has opened.

First, here is the marvellous story I received as a gift: Companionship - Jacqueline Carey - The Kushiel's Legacy series
Imriel/Maslin, and so lovely - I've loved Maslin since his introduction in Kushiel's Scion and had so hoped that we'd get more interaction of him with Imriel. This is exactly what I hoped to read in the novels but which Carey failed to write! :)

27 recs in 22 fandoms: The Cat Returns, ASOIAF, If on a winter's night a traveler, Carol Berg - Transformation, A Companion To Wolves, A Study In Emerald - Gaiman, Angels in America, Asterix The Gaul, Ayatsuri Sakon, Beauty And The Beast, Bible, Black Jewels series - Bishop, James Bond, Devil Wears Prada, The Edukators/Die Fetten Jahre Sind Vorbei, Doctrine of Labyrinths - Monette, Enemy Mine, Fairytales, Fire's Stone - Huff, From Eroica With Love, Swordspoint, Kushiel series )

Merry Christmas from Glorfindel and Legolas! :)
And Happy Birthday [profile] beruthiels_cats! *hugs*

Photobucket

Here is a little bit of Christmas music for you... I am indeed listening to Bach on youtube while editing my Yuletide fics for the last time. I actually wound up writing a treat of 1500 words in a fandom I never would have thought of offering. The good thing about writing a treat is that I don't have to worry so much if my recipient will think it completely crazy, as hopefully they'll have at least one other story that will be more to their liking.

My Christmas Eve really isn't going as I had hoped hoped as my siblings and mother are all crazy, but in the worst case I'll just have a very calm and quiet evening, which is what I like most about Christmas anyway, open that bottle of sherry mead aged in an oak barrel which I had saved for a special occassion, and write another treat or two to give more people a pleasant surrise once the archive opens tomorrow. :)

Anyway, here is a part from Bach's Christmas Oratorio, featuring one of my favourite Christmas songs, Ich steh an deiner Krippen hier.

Yuletide story is UPLOADED! With 2 hours to spare! W00t!!!

*dies*

There's nothing like that endorphine rush when your story just barely squeezes by under the deadline. *wipes sweat from brow*

And I have already flagged one or two pinchhit request for writing treats, argh!

By the way, if you have always been intrigued by Yuletide but didn't want to commit to a story, or if you missed the sign ups this year, apparently this year's Yuletide Madness is open for everyone with an AO3 account, whether you're a Yuletide participant or not! :)

Yuletide!

YULETIDE SIGN-UPS ARE OPEN!!! *squees*

My little writing challenge is still working well. I wrote a little less yesterday than I should have, but as I usually wrote more than I needed to those first few days, I'm still ahead. Of course, my secret hope is that I will not only manage to keep this up all through November, but that I might go on writing a little every day afterwards.

Now I have an hour left until I need to go to the dentist, which will hopefully go well enough to leave me the energy to bake more Stollen this evening and work on the RP. :)

And three more Photoshop lessons:

With that I've completed the first set of Photoshop lessons and can now do the second set - which I've seen does indeed encompass prettying up rendered Poser hair, exactly what I wanted to learn to do! :)

I've also ordered a graphics tablet now, which might even arrive today - a very cheap and simple one to play around with a bit, but I'm sure it will be useful, especially for things like hair.

Is anyone else getting all excited for yuletide already? Just thinking of it makes me want to bounce - I'll probably end up requesting my usual favourites, but as those never get fic written for them apart from yuletide I don't care if that makes me predictable. Something I'd love to request would be fic for Tonke Dragt's De brief voor de koning/Der Brief für den König, but unfortunately that book's never been translated to English. I don't know why, as I think it's the most famous YA novel in the Netherlands, and my most beloved book as a child. I must have read it more than 30 times, and then I gave it and its sequel to my brother and got him just as addicted to books as I am. They even made a movie of it this year, which might get shown in the US as The Letter for the King. I dragged my brother to the cinema to see it - unfortunately it wasn't that good. Still, it makes me hope that one day there'll be fic for Der Brief für den König and Der Wilde Wald... *sigh*
