Eventually he tired of the chase. She was nothing if not persistent, but she was not his prey. Like everything else, whatever interest she held faded into boredom.
From the foot of the Sakura he watched Hokuto come in the white shikifuku she had no right to. Did she think she could substitute for her brother? He would disabuse her of the notion. Neither had she the strength to threaten him.
"I want you to kill me," she said. Curiosity rekindled. Perhaps there were amusement left in this game. Perhaps Sleeping Beauty would wake from his sister's kiss of death.

Title: Sugar

She took her tea sweet. She would add loads and loads of sugar, and sometimes milk and honey too. Seishirou liked to tease her about it. Sugar with tea, he called it.
She hated the bitter taste of traditionnal Japanese tea which her grandma prepared. Subaru would drink it, of course, but she’d never succeeded in getting him to admit whether he liked it or not.
“What news of Subaru-kun?” Karen asked gently, after she’d finished mixing sugar in hot water.
Hokuto looked up and smiled mechanicaly. “Nothing yet, but I’m close, I can feel it.”
Karen nodded slightly, sympathy in her eyes.
Hokuto brought the cup to her lips. It was funny, really. So much sugar, and it still tasted of tears.

Notes: For nataku_chan who requested yuutoxnataku. I'm sorry I took so long, and I'm sorry it doesn't fit really, but I think this is the best I can do with that pairing >_>;; all this time and I couldn't do any better.
First, he knocked at the door. Thrice; and smiled at the opening door. He asked if he might talk to Kasumi Karen-san, please, and was let through.
He left his shoes at the threshold.
Karen smiled when he bowed in front of her. There were faint wrinkles around her eyes from the smile and the tension underneath it, but the make-up was impeccable despite her red eyes. He wondered if she wept flames too.
Nataku-chan wanted you to have this, he said, handing her the plush bear.
She stared at it for a while. Why ?
He shrugged.
He didn’t mention innocence and betrayal. No such outrage to be uttered when they were both prostitutes. But they knew the value of one caring gesture.
After a while, she offered tea. It glinted under the light, like fire, like gold. The bitter taste was priceless.
