11:59am: Dude - talking to former assistant via IM just now, and she sent me the link to her photography business. Exclamation Imagery is the site. SHE IS AWESOME! Go look, and if you or someone you know is having a wedding, especially "alternative lifestyle" weddings/handfastings/commitment ceremonies, please pass along her contact info. She is seriously made of win. &hearts

9:55am: 1. I believe I am getting sick.

b. I made a mistake in leaving without eating breakfast this morning. I am now trapped in my office with no chance of leaving to get food because I am - yet again - the only person here. And it is almost 10:00am. Hmph.

III. Lily is at home today, along with Jade. I hope my house is still standing when I get home.

four. Speaking of Lily, she woke me up around 4:30am. Why? Because she was snoring like the Three Stooges. No lie.

Z. It can be homes time nao?

11:06am: I have a Lily Belle with me today at work! I think that Jade is nearing on nervous breakdown territory because of the constant puppy-ness around her, so I gave her a day to herself of peace and quiet at home. Tomorrow she will likely come with me to work while I crate Lily at home, lest she think I don't love her anymore. :) Anyway, so far today Lily has: played ball in the hallway, gone across campus on a walk with co-worker K., jumped around and spazzed out in the computer lab, and tried to hitch a ride with strangers on the elevator. She is now corralled in my office with me, lest she try to escape again, and is thankfully laying down and being good. For the moment, anyway. I foresee a very long walk at lunch, provided my foot holds up on me. :))

25th April 2008

12:15pm: Okay flist - I need help. I am a HUGE fan of laying a plain cotton camisol top with my button up shirts for work, mostly because this allows me to still use said button ups in spite of my larger tummy. The problem is that the camisols that I currently own are starting to fall apart - pin sized holes, stains, etc. have taken their toll on my wardrobe. I've gone to the usual places to replenish my stock, but alas! I cannot find plain cotton camis anywhere this season! I don't want a built in bra, I don't want fussy lace, ruffles or key-hole openings - I just want a regular cotton cami (stretchy is fine) that is sized for my round body (around size 24). I'm beginning to despair, you have no idea. I don't like regular tank tops that much for layering, so I'm not looking for full "strap" coverage on my shoulders. Just a strappy cami top. Is this a creature of the past? Has fashion changed to no longer allow big girls to wear such a thing? Am I just looking too early in the warm weather clothes season? Help me, flist!

I did find a few picot trimmed camis at The Avenue, but they want $20 a top. That just doesn't work for me, considering the camis I have now cost me between $5 - $10 each. I've looked online at Old Navy, Kohls, JCPenny, Avenue, Overstock.com, Target, and Wal-Mart and have come up empty handed. Any camisol sightings in your area? Have you seen the perfect cami online somewhere? Please tell me!

12:50pm: Inventory at work today.  Again.  We're on round two of four, and we're down to only mising 13 things worth a total of a bit over $36k, so I think we're doing good.  Considering our original inventory report was 87 things worth over $600k, I'm happy with our results so far.

In other work news I finally found 98% of the errors on my spreadsheet of d00m that I've been working on for the last few weeks.  This thing is massive in scale with more formulas in it than I can count, so rechecking everything entry by entry was tedious^infinity.  Now that I've found most of the errors (there's still a few things that are weird, but I'm only $2k from being even with our Uni database rather than $37k off, so yay for that) I have to double check all the work my assistant has done on it as well.  *cries*  I despair over this project, I really do.

In more fun news (sort of!), <b>there are only 4 days left to register for <a href=http://fertilegroundgathering.com>Fertile Ground!</a></b>

<a href="http://www.fertilegroundgathering.com/" alt="Fertile Ground">

</a>

As one of the registration folks and one of the host group council members, I really want people to sign up so we have a larger crowd and therefore more people to play with, but the workit-y side of me just wants the chaos to end so I can start sorting out registration packets for people. ;)  Still, if you'll be in the area (Dumfries, VA) on the 3rd and 4th of May, please come join us!

And now I have slacked enough for one day.  Back to the database of d00m!

3rd April 2008

10:11am: Remember the comment I made in passing about the wankery at [info]nonwiccanwitch? It gets so much better.

The other thing from my morning is that in spite of knowing my great fear of snakes of all kinds my father was cruel enough to forward an email with a picture of a MONSTROUSLY HUGE SNAKE PULLING A COW FROM A RIVER AND EATING IT! I may never recover from the trauma of it. I sort of want to curl up in a ball under my desk and whimper in fear right now, you have no idea. *shudders*

In other news, happy furry four legged squirrels have been trying to uproot various plants on my deck. I have given Jade a stern talking to about guarding the deck better, and have moved the vulnerable strawberries to a different spot closer to the deck door in hopes of keeping the furry little rodents out of them. If this doesn't work, I suppose I'll have to get some sort of fencing or something. I figured birds might be a problem, but I figured Jade would keep the squirrels away. Clearly she is not the guard dog I was hoping she would be. ;)

Right then. Boss is back from leave today so I have 47289473289 emails from him already to deal with. Off to do real work. Ta!

1st April 2008

12:03pm: Happy April, y'all. Here's hoping that this month proves to be better than the last. I know a lot of you on my various flists are reeling today from a death, and my heart goes out to all of you. &hearts

Things in Eratoland (and doesn't that sound like a rather naughty theme park - if only!) have been well enough, if decidely busy. After the horrendous Thursday-with-no-internet-at-work I went home and ate comfort food and drank wine while watching bloody battles on Rome (which is turning out to be my comfort dvd watching for some reason). After falling into bed at a ridiculously early hour I got up early to clean house and run errands as I took the day off of work. It turns out it was good that I got up early because my day ended up being longer than I anticipated - or at least I was moving slower than I had expected and therefore each job took longer. Fortunately I had the house in order and food made by the time my classmates showed up, and we had a wonderful evening full of food, drink, giggles and tears. I'd not seen them all in several weeks so it was very nice to just hang out with them a bit. Everyone shuffled out the door by midnight or so, and after a bit of cleaning (again!) I thankfully fell into bed.

Saturday was another early day because I was meeting the [info]hp_dcmetro group downtown at eleven-thirty for our picnic under the cherry blossoms. Aside from wanting to toss several people onto the high voltage rails the trip was uneventful, and with only a bit of waiting we gathered most of our group and staked our claim to a cherry tree. The picnic was lovely (if a bit chilly), and eventually a few more folks joined us and the afternoon passed rather quickly. I could hardly believe when it was after three o'clock, though I think the true southerners in the group were definitely feeling the chill from sitting out so long. ;) A quick stop at Borders, a very long metro ride, and a conversation with (of all people) the Ex later and it was time for bed again.

Sunday completed my trilogy of early mornings as I had to be at a meeting at noon. Fortunately it wasn't as interminable as the last few have been so I was still somewhat awake and only slightly headachy by the time I got home. I spent the evening making up to Jade for ignoring her all weekend, which involved much petting, rubbing of tummy, and playing fetch with her squeaky toys. Oh, and a few doggie treats, because she looked so very pathetic. ;) We have since made up, and this is all to the good.

Yesterday was just icky, between the fact it was Monday, rainy, and work was just irritating on so many levels. Got some homework done last night, and while today started off rather badly it is slowly looking up. I'm sure the blueberry stain will come out of my white shirt, and I was lucky enough to have that happen while still at home so while I'm dressed like a bum today at least it is in clean clothes. Coworker brought in a huge box of goodies from Panera to share with us, so I absoconded with an asiago cheese bagel and drank some tea while staring out the window at the slowly brightening sky. And finally, there was a very amusing if mind bending post in [info]nonwiccanwitch yesterday that is just full of WTF, and it made me giggle. April Fool's joke, troll, or whatever, I was seriously amused. [info]nmdrkangl was kind enough to post it over at [info]sf_drama if you're a member over there, as well. :)

And now, with any luck, the server has been reset and I can access the network files. It is extremely irritating to be here and unable to do work because you can't get to your files. On the up side, at least today we had internet access!
