The bathroom redo is almost complete! Tomorrow, the guys will come by to hang the door, do some retouch painting, and hang the shower curtain bar. Then, in complete bliss, I can take a shower. Once I get back from Canada, I have someone coming in to reglaze the porcelain tub. Can't wait!
I leave for Prince Edward Island on Sunday. I am not packed, I need to do laundry, and the house is a wreck. As I have someone move in to take care of my animals while I am gone, I will be spending many hours cleaning tomorrow. I hope to have internet access while on the island so I can download and post some pics.
In 1995, I did a 6 month sabbatical position at the vet school on PEI. This is my first trip back. Branigan, my 3 year old Newf, will be coming with me. I would love to take Keegan (the puppy), but having him along requires a much higher level of vigilance. As the purpose of this trip is to relax before starting a new job, only B will be going with me. My plan for the week is to read, sit on the beach, eat lots of lobster and mussels, walk on the beach, try to figure out Photoshop Elements, sleep, read, eat, repeat.

I have had a hell of a time trying to get photos to work! Let's try this-a shot of the boys at the Cape Cod National Seashore.

Sigh. I am having my bathroom redone. I live in a 1950's Cape Cod, which is adorable, but not very modern. I am pretty sure that the linoleum in the bathroom is original to the house. Did I mention that the bathroom was completely pink when I moved in? Pink tile, pink walls, pink shower curtain...it was like a giant bottle of pepto bismal. I painted everything I could but had to live with the pink tiles until recently.
I'm very excited about the bathroom being redone, but it is the ONLY bathroom. I have been bathing at the kitchen sink for almost a week. On Wednesday, the four dogs and I have to go stay at a friend's house because the toilet will not be functional. As this house is on a lake and has DirectTV, you shouldn't feel too sorry from me. There is no cell phone service there, however, which tells you that it is in the boonies.
The "new" bathroom will have white tiles in the tub/shower area, white wainscoting on the walls, and blue paint above the wainscoting. I am most excited about the floor-black and white small tiles, very in character with the house. If I can figure out how to post pictures I will will put up some before and after photos.
Next up: replace roof, then try to do something about the kitchen without spending $20,000 or taking down any walls.

Well, like many, I have created this account due to the censorship at LJ. While I was never a consistent poster on LJ, I enjoyed it (usually). However, I cannot tolerate the current climate being created by the admin there.
I hope that I am able to keep up with this journal!
