	2006.08.10  23.52 Plagiarism First off, that's a bitch of a word to write. No, seriously. Secondly, I had planned to be all wordy and verbal, but you know what? That's completely unnecessary. I could yammer until my head fell off. The basic run down is this: It. Is. Not. Legal. No amount of pleading, burying your head in the sand, excuses (see icon), or anything else makes it okay. It’s not. Academic, non-academic…whatever, it’s not excusable, especially cases like Heidi and Cassie Claire. No amount of whining of witch hunts, cries of jealousy (Bitch, please. At least I use my own words when I write.), dismissive tones will make it okay. So stop trying. If you think that it’s okay to put those around you in a very precarious situations (fandom has to police itself because creators/authors are depending on us to know basic universal moral values, like right and wrong, if not legal ones) by pretending like your little infractions aren't going to put them at risk, well then you’re a fucktard and I recommend drinking bleach. It’s not okay to be stupid when we’re all taught plagiarism, copyright infringement (which, hi, different thing completely), and all those pesky legal terms that keep our asses out of jail in grade school. If you didn’t receive it that early, then universities make damn sure you know it by your first course. Overall, my post amounts to this: You piss in my sandbox, you better be willing to have to go tell the teacher (author) just what you did. You better have accountability or get the fuck out of fandom. Why should we ruin our fun because someone can’t bothered to act with integrity, the only thing we truly have to trade on in fandom?
