Some spoilers for the end of Season 1 and the beginning of Season 2. DISCLAIMER: I don't own these characters, nor am I making any money from them. I merely borrow them from time to time. I would also like to own Rodney McKay, but that ain’t gonna happen. When Dr. Rodney McKay first kissed Lt. Col. John Sheppard, it was an accident. Kind of. See, they were off world and Rodney was talking a mile a minute and walking backwards. Not a good combination. He tripped over a root of a tree and John caught him before he fell. Their mouths were really close and it was easy to fill the distance between them. Then Ronon and Teyla messed it up. John dropped Rodney when the other two came around another tree. Teyla looked bemused while Ronon helped Rodney up. “Thank you. Lets go back to the Jumper so we can go home,” said Rodney. “Yeah. Lets do that,” said John. The team went back to the Puddlejumper and went back to Atlantis. John and Rodney did not talk about the kiss. ********** When Rodney and John kissed again. It was not an accident. John had knocked on Rodney’s door and then walked in before Rodney could say enter. “Do you have to do that?” asked Rodney. John smirked. “Of course.” There was an awkward silence. Rodney huffed. “What did you want? I am a very busy man and I don’t have time to just sit here and look at you.” John sighed and grabbed Rodney. He then kissed him. He then let go. “Oh,” said Rodney. “Yeah.” They looked at each other and kissed again. They made out for a hour. ************ The next kisses were when they were making love. Rodney realized that John loved kissing. And he asked him about it later in the week. They were in the lab and had been together for about three days. Many, many people had seen them kissing. “You love kissing don’t you?” asked Rodney. “I just love kissing you,” said John. Rodney backed John against a wall and proceeded to kiss him. John pulled back. “Lets take this somewhere with a bed.” Rodney nodded. They left the lab and went to Rodney’s room because it was closer. Later that night, Rodney looked at John while he was working and John was sleeping. Rodney sighed. He could actually learn to like kissing. As long as he was kissing John. | ||||||||||||

Real Home When Rodney McKay first stepped through the Stargate to Atlantis, he never thought that he would miss his home. He did though. Especially after hearing about the Wraith. Evil life sucking alien vampires was not something he signed up for. He missed his cat, pizza, television, and non-threatening life situations. Like asking someone out on a date. Weeks into the Atlantis mission, he had been off world a lot and shot at a lot. That made him miss his home more. Even if there was no one to come home to. He had his cat and that was all he needed. That’s what he told himself. Months into the mission, Rodney made friends. John, Teyla, Ford, Carson, and many others. Oh, they complained about his complaining, but they always pulled through for him. He missed his home less and less as time went on. By the time that the Deadalus arrived and Rodney saved everyone, again, Rodney barely thought of his old, cold home. When Rodney got back to Earth and had gorged himself on pizza, chocolate, coffee, and everything else me missed, he realized something. Atlantis was his real home and he couldn’t wait to get back. | ||||||||||||
