I'm enjoying the lolz this trial is giving me, knowing that Aardvark is going to get his ass handed to him and then quite possibly get sued by the publisher that he's more than happy to sell out.

What I am not enjoying is the misogynist bias in just about everything the media has to say about it. Steve looks like a schoolboy? What the actual fuck? I'm trying to tell myself that it's all about creating as sensationalist a story as they can, and an extremely rich author suing a fan over something like this is just begging for a David and Goliath angle, but jesus fucking christ. Jo cries, so the bitch is obviously faking it for sympathy. Steve cries, and awww, don't you just feel bad for him? Fuck you very much, journalists, and way to undermine any credibility you might have had-- not that the NYT has much credibility at all anymore, after its OWN scandals. Maybe that's why they're so sympathetic to Stevie: they don't have any integrity either.

Mostly though, I'm just goddamn sick of misogyny and patriarchy everywhere I look. Of course that evil whore doesn't deserve to protect her copyright: she's a woman, so if she had any sense, she'd step back and let the big, smart, completely un-fucking-qualified man write it. She's stepped out of place, she doesn't need that money, and she should get her ass back into the kitchen. After all, she was asking for it.

All this is aside from the fact that SVA is a typical entitled middle-age douchebag adulterer who dumped his family to run off with a younger woman and try to ride someone else's coattails to fame and fortune. I hope the contemptible bastard is unemployable the rest of his life, because it's exactly what he deserves. Yes, I am angry. Patriarchy and institutionalised misogyny are always going to piss me off, especially when they involve painting a weasel like this as some kind of sympathetic character.
