I went down to the underground car park this morning to find that someone has stolen my bicycle!

They've cut through both combination locks that I had on it and thrown them on the floor. Luckily Paul had a D-lock on his so they only took mine - I was going to buy a couple more D-locks this weekend to make them both more secure!! Ironic no?

I hope I don't see anyone riding my bike or I'll sodding deck them. Bloody hoodie wearing chav bastards!

Update

Centre Parcs - What do you get if you add together a great group of friends, lovely weather, cool swimming pool complete with rapids and water slides, archery, laser clay, cycling, walking, BBQ, a splash or two of alcohol, Euro 2008 final and one very patriotic Spaniard? ....A bloody brilliant weekend that's what! We're already planning the next trip!

Longleat Safari Park - It's hard to believe that I've lived this long without ever visiting a safari park but there you have it. What a fun day! As the safari park is only a five minute drive from Centre Parcs it seemed daft not to go and Caroline and Jesse wanted to go too which meant we got to spend some time with them away from the group which was cool. The grounds are huge and all the animals looked so happy and healthy.

Bikes - Paul and I enjoyed cycling around Centre Parcs so much that we bought bikes yesterday. I'm looking forward to being able to get to the gym easily without having to get a lift with Paul or Paul. (I don't drive although I have started taking lessons after a 12 year break...long story)

Comedy - Getting together with everyone is always good for my soul because we laugh so much, and my funny bone has been tickled since we got home too, Summer Heights High was brilliant yesterday, the scene with Jonah and his Dad was hilarious (Jonah lying about his dad touching him so he could get out of giving his English presentation was wrong on so many levels) and the musical auditions were cruelly funny the guy is a genius! And then this evening I caught an old episode of League of Gentlemen followed by an old Father Ted, god, i had forgotten how great both of those shows are. They couldn't be more different but I loved them both.

I got me a D boy!

I don't know if I've mentioned this here before but my husband makes toy soldiers for a living. Not fantasy Warhammer ones (although he has made some swashbuckling pirate types inspired by a certain franchise) no, he makes historically accurate figures and uses various sources to get kit and uniform correct. This includes Dragon models which are for all intents and purposes "Action Men" dolls.

On our way to see friends yesterday we stopped off at the dolly shop where I purchased one for myself....I bought a U.S. Army 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment Delta...yep I got me a BHD dolly with "highly flexible body" and "triple jointed arms allow the figure to perform difficult poses" ...bwahahaaaaaa, the things that have popped into my mind!!

And to top it off Paul has said that one of his customers wants him to make Delta force figure soon which means we get to watch Black Hawk Down over and over, oh the pity...

We rule!

Just got back from a quiz night. Our team consisted of Paul and I, our friends Paul and Angie, Angie's daughter Steph and her boyfriend Alan. It was held at Melissa's school (Paul & Angie's fosdter kid). Our team is called the Jedi Masters because we are a bunch of sarkie buggers.

We did one there last term and came second which was really cool. This time we won, bwaahaahaaa!
Victory is ours.....although to be fair I reckon that the other teams must have been a bit on the thick side because we got a few questions wrong ourselves.

There was a prize of 50 quid to the winning team, but as they are a special needs school and the quiz was meant as a fund raiser we gave the money back to the school.

I'll have to find a pub with a decent quiz night to go to now as I think I have been bitten by the quiz bug.

I've just been going through youtube watching recent-ish interviews with Karl Urban, and have noticed that he no longer appears to have a Kiwi accent...he's speaking with a Hollywood movie style American/non-accent accent! It is too weird....must go and watch some Eric Bana clips, no way that bugger is ever gonna lose his Aussie accent, not for anyone.

Long time no see

Looking at my journal I notice that the last time I actually posted anything was 2005!!! I had begun to find the bitching and squabbling that was going on hard to take and so I drew back from RPS to reading only FPS where the conflict seemed to be less personal in nature and more regarding canon issues.

However about a week or so ago I was thinking about Karl Urban and Eric Bana both being in the upcoming Star Trek film and it got me thinking of old fics, so I went back and re-read Jen & Luna's "A Distance Erased" arc and it was as good and as hot as I remembered, better in fact. It appears to have rekindled my interest in RPS, (which I've not read for well over two years) particularly Jen's Karl and Luna's Harry and so I have been trying to catch up everything I have missed in the Establishment!

This should keep me occupied for the next few weeks at least.... a bit of a daunting task but one I think I'm going to relish nonetheless.

Fly out to Italy tomorrow for a toy soldier trade fair. We're going to be staying in Crema, same as last year but this time round we're over for five days so we should have longer to look round Milano that last year. Also we've scheduled ourselves some time to visit Bergamo alto, which is meant to be breathtaking.

Can't wait, all that seasonal weather (it might snow!), and delicious pastries. You can't get pasta in Crema for love nor money, as it's not a regional dish! Good thing I love rissotto and pizza. Ooh, I just remembered that last year I had a caramellised onion pizza (called a pugliese, I think) it was amazing.

I'll try to get some Christmas shopping done whilst I'm there. Anyone want anything?

Had a lovely day today with mum. We went to Kew Gardens and despite my busy day yesterday, the legs held up. The leaves were just on the turn and there was lots of funky fungi growing through the leaf mould. Scattered throughout the gardens, particularly in the Temperate House were fantastic glass installations by Dale Chihuly. If you don't know his stuff have a look here Dale Chihuly at Kew it's all glass but looks so organic.

Whilst queing for food mum and I were next to Matt Dawson who turned and spoke to us! He's even nicer and dishier in person than he is on tv. His smile is dazzling. He was there with his girlfriend/wife, his parents and his grandma. How cute!

Busy day today. Left Portsmouth at 4.30am to arrive at London City Airport at 7am. Waved hubby off at 8am. (he's off selling toy soldiers in Antwerp) Then I went off to be a tourist in my own city.

Climbed Monument (Christopher Wren's design, built between 1671 and 1677 to commemorate the Great Fire of London of 1666) at 9.30am. (202 feet high, 311 steps to viewing platform) Oh the pain!

Onwards to St. Paul's Cathedral. Paid my respects to Wellington & Nelson. Took part in Eucharist. Lit candles & said prayers. Marvelled at the glittering mosaics in Wren's dome. Climbed to the whispering gallery and then went up higher. (85metres high, 530 steps to the Golden Gallery) My calf muscles are screaming!

Then I crossed the Millennium Bridge to the reconstruction of Shakespeare's Globe theatre, which looks so right amongst the modern buildings. Walked onto Borough market and bought some fresh rolls for later and had myself a falafel, humous & salad wrap. Could so easily have bought, olives, cheese, chorizo, game pie and a million other tasty morsels. I'll go again with Paul when he's back.

Next stop the Tate Modern, some very interesting installations, Rachel Whiteread's, "Embankment" was huge and it felt good to be dwarfed and engulfed by some art. Other goodness by the likes of Rodin, Picasso, Gilbert & George and a woman who's name escapes me - she had a series of short films of her mother's correspondance to her during the war in Lebannon read over nude pictures of her mother. (sounds bizarre but it was very touching)

Picked up Krispy Kreme doughnuts to nourish me once I got home. Made it home by 5.45pm. Fantastic day, but I'm totally knackered.

Citadel Stuart rules! Stuart and James are great together. I love Stuart's notes, especially his rating of himself (so modest). I don't usually read het, but Christ Almighty! Stuart and Reese were amazing. Energizer Bunny, indeed.

Also on the het front, Karl's relieving his tension with Christina was as hot as we've come to expect from Jen's Karl. What I wasn't expecting was how delicious Harry and Christina would be together - and that was just talking. I can't wait until Harry & Karl have her over for dinner. What a sandwich!

Back in the Establishment, it was good to see Harry and Billy reunited. Harry ranked Billy first! I'm so glad the feel for each other so equally.

Harry and Eric, well now. Eric admitting that he wants to take Harry down harder and more often knocked me for six. I wonder how far under Harry could go for Eric?

Missing Karl and Stuart like crazy and I keep hoping that Harry will bring Stuart home and fuck himsilly with Eric!

So, I just checked my friends page after a day or two of feeling sorry for myself ( and my one woman snot factory), and what do I find? A big pile of steaming shit.

I don't know anyone on JF personally. I only really know you guys by your fics and public posts. Therefore, I don't always know who is hating who this week. I kind of know who hates who in general, but not the reasons.

As a greedy reader I must confess I'm really pretty much only interested in the fics. So any kind of upset that slows down the porn production really hits me where it hurts.

You guys are my way of winding down after work where I'm dealing with a busy office, customer calls (all irate hairy-arsed builders), a seriously deranged boss and 10 field sales operatives who all want my undivided attention for eight hours of the day!!

So I am begging you all - please stop writing about "them" and "it" or whatever and write some more porn before I'm forced to resort to reading naff elf slash to tide myself over.

weekend Update

Friday night went out to celebrate Sally's 30th birthday. The usual crowd of me, Paul, Sally, Darren and Anna as well as Jon & Lin who we haven't seen in yonks along with Jez who never comes out clubbing.

Ended up in cool old styled pub in Charing Cross called the Sherlock Holmes, which was tucked away down a couple of back streets. Very Diagon Alley!!

We then went onto an ickle club called the Soundshaft - a friend of Sally & Darren's was DJing. Great night, friendly crowd, good mix of house and uplifting trance. Minor mishap involving a malfunctioning smoke machine, which was spitting out molten lumps of red goo. Paul & Anna got splatted a couple of times!

Spent almost all of saturday in bed, finally finished Half Blood Prince. Yeah I know it's taken ages. *hangs head*

Today we're off to buy plants and trellis for our terrace/balcony. Bit late for pretty annuals, but should be able to get hold of some nice structural plants.
