| Bio: | Me: I write fiction. I used to write original fic, but gave up on the getting published part (I hate trying to present myself in formal letters) and switched to fanfiction, which can provide immediate connection to an audience. My current fanfic is all Harry Potter, though I wrote some Robin of Sherwood stories many years ago, and Star Wars stuff before the Return of the Jedi came out. I figureskate, ride horses, and rock climb (in a climbing gym), and have lots of pets, including chickens. I'm bi, poly, and neo-pagan in a sort of a mild Unitarian way, but my main weirdness is that I haven't followed a TV show in years. (Possibly since RoS, which I used to watch at someone else's house.) Hey -- we all need our idiosyncrasies. :-) Fanfic: Most of my fanfic is in two places, FictionAlley, and The Archive at the End of the Universe. Please note that much of the fiction at the Archive is not only sexual, but fairly kinky. Please DO NOT READ stories rated "X" if you are underage. If you have squicks, pay attention to the content warnings; I'm not interested in horrifying anyone. If you're fussy about combinations of sexes, again, check the content warnings -- I do all combinations (m/f, m/m, f/f, and genderqueer). Also note that I rate for drug use, violence, and such, so a rating over PG does not necessarily indicate sexual content. (Really -- people have complained!) If you do this in email, include a link to your livejournal so I know whom to add. The name: The name has _nothing_ to do with Harry Potter. A gateway girl is a girl who talks in science classes, causing other girls to talk in science classes. (That's really simplified, of course. See Dr. Vicka Corey's paper at http://www.andor.org/diss/physics.txt.) How did I end up using it? I was posting, very late at night, on a bulletin board that required me to be registered with a unique ID. After a dozen attempts to use something reasonable, I typed in GatewayGirl. That probably would have been that, but I posted "The Interview" on the same board, so it made sense to use the same name when I put it on fanfiction.net, so then I used it for "Snakes and Lions". Now I'm kind of stuck with it. It's a cool term, at least. I suspect I was a gateway girl, as I cannot remember ever not being opinionated in a class. I'm also amused by it as an analog to "gateway drug" as I was the first girl of several people who had previously had sex only with boys. | |||||||||
