Pimp!! [19 Aug 2007|03:41pm]
[ mood | Shiny ]

I have never seen the movie 300. It seemed violent and pointless, so I gave it a miss. And now, I never ever need to see it, because Luminosity has skewered it perfectly in her brilliant new video, set to Madonna's "Vogue."

This is one of those fanworks that makes me proud to be in fandom. The irony of pairing this song with these battle scenes does several things: It skewers the creator's homophobia, by emphasizing the homoeroticism of the subject matter. It satirizes the male fascination with violence and gore in popular culture. It takes the air out of pompous directors and producers with an unholy glee. But perhaps most brilliant of all, it is a critique on war and those who continue to insist on the need for it--even when the cause is no longer just.

Go. Feed. Love. Be proud of what fandom can produce, because we amazing.

Lynnevitational Ficathon: Updated Masterlist [13 Aug 2007|07:20pm]
Hello folks,

I have updated the Masterlist for this year's [info]lynnevitational ficathon. We had 29 writers producing superb new Buffyverse/Angelverse fic this year, which is a stellar turn-out! And, there are even a few WIPs still in progress, so the good stuff keeps on coming. :)

Thank you so much to all the writers who participated. You are the reason I keep hanging around this fandom. :) Let's do it again next year.

*hugs to all*
