I only saw ten minutes, but oh dear oh dear oh dear. Dead sacrificial serving-wench, Docco being sorrysorry veryverysorry, stupid cameo from "the queen", disregard of basic laws of physics, villain obsessed with money and Amazing Explosions.
On Earth. Now. So you can, you know, Relate To It.

I have heard the most ludicrous spoiler rumours that are so ridic it's almost worth them being true just to see how the hell they justify **** of all ****** being * ***** ffs. I mean, **** fair enough, but ****? Really?
In other news, England are sucking out the cricket against a bunch of sheep er herders. Bah bah bah.

The Wales wank was very good. I also dipped into the random Snape wank, but only as a tourist. I do know Wales, though.
Torchwood is a bit patchy, mostly because of Newly Grim Jack. He's barely even the same person. Why build a series around Jack and then de-Jack him? I think the idea of post-resurrection angst is interesting, but I'd rather it was happening to Jack-as-I-knew.
Still, the pterodactyl is cute.

At times like these I feel slightly guilty for hating tea. It's boiled leaves! Erk! I like rich, full, luscious ripe ground-up burnt coffeebeans. Mmm. How can I be part of Wonderful Stoic Britain without tea?

1. Fandom views of Slytherin
Well, a portion of the fandom, who I suspect to be goths, worship slytherin and apportion their bad-bioy status to themselves.
Another section are rather shocked by JKR's prejudice, and hope it's only a reflection of H's third-person-focalised views, and will be redeemed later.
A subset of these are the snape freaks, who have dragged him into every chapter of a_chapter_a_day and expect him to redeem the whole House single-handedly.
There is also a reactionary faction that think Slyths really *are* bad to the bone and the hat sorts the bastards into one place so they can be Watched Closely.
2. Bullying in the WW
The WW is more old-fashioned than current child-care culture, and many things are allowed to go on that wouldn't in a modern school. The standard form of bullying is the threats-and-insults combo of Draco and his goons. This is later reversed spectacularly with the big pensieve scene - Harry'ds beloved pa is a bit of a bully himself. This throws a new light on the Prank and Snape's snittiness.
There is something dismissive in H's treatment of neville, but it doesn't quite reach bullying levels. Another group presented in an over-positive light is the Twins, who are quite callous towards firsities.
Peeves pesters, Snape doesn't go far off bullying, and there's something not far off about Molly - but these are adulkts. Can adults be said to bully brats? If so, then the dursleys are main culprits. Dudley doesn't bully Haz all that much, possibly due to H's ingrained sense of self-preservation while in the house - Duds doesn't need to. He does cause trouble round town as a teenager, maybe linking bullying to stupidity. Clever people bitch rather than bully. Harry has a violent streak, but he saves it for people bigger than himself rather than lesser.

I donated my sock butteryballoon to the House Of Mouse, because registrations are closed and some anon comments are turned off, so there is nowhere for mice to run around and...eat cheese and stuff.
I created it because all the cool kids had socks, and I was feeling paranoid about twop_crit. Ah, coffee, the sweet deluding drug.
I would offer my weight in gold for GOF set photos that show what Barty Jr's hair will be like.

so, to make this journal feel used (in a good way), I'll update my fandomicity.
In february, I was frantically trying to keep up with the wrteched BBC3 Farscape schedule and wondering what on earth I would do before the release of HBP on July 16th.
At the end of March I got the welcome bonus of S1 BTVS, which I had never got round to seeing, as first-serieses are never All That. So far they've been about as mehy as I thought, but we do get the Angel-mytharc intro next week.
Meanwhile, like a doof, I had forgotten that some parts of fandomworld were dribbling with anticpation for the end of March. I had noticed the ads in passing and was vaguely interested, as I would be in any SF thing. I watched it, and despite a few too many reminders of the S1 BTVS earlier the same night, it's jolly good. It makes me want to see a load of old stuff. I had always planned to do this as soon as I got hold of a satellite or decent DVD budget, but it's a very impenetrable world. Even the hardest of cores admits that some episodes suck beyond the telling, and it's impossible to guess from titles or even from reviews. So I am stuck with the American fangirls and the noobs, even though I have seen plenty before.
In fandom-watching terms, it's a very interesting pile. The hardcore old-schoolers sometimes display textbook geek behaviour, and a bit of a turf war is developing between the Rigidly Sexless old-schoolers and the slashy new fangirls. I'm not sure how it'll go next year with the new actor, but it could be potentially much, much worse. Which is much better for a popcorn-grabbing fanwar correspondent like me.
I'd like the show to go in a more "Angel" s2 direction next year, but it would really depend on how DT plans to play it. And the series this year ends just in time for HBP!

I made a really deep and well-written post about memory, snow and mp3s, and got no response! Bah. I need to develop a red-hot fanfic reputation as soon as possible. Some people get 89 entries for the slightest burp. But I get howling indifference for my sparkling prose. Wow, Cliff Richard is really annoying. Pah. Bllzzgth.
Also NEED NEW FANDOM!!!! No Joss, no trek no scape, nothing! Oh well, it'll be HBP in 6 months' time. Yee.

O journalfen, where be all your icons? They have all deserted me due to a 'blob cluster' error. O rage! o desepoir!
Also it is sunny out and I am fooling around instead of working like a peasant churl at this fucking piece. Oh hated hate, o wretched wretch!
The sun it beats throught paper purple threads And lights this dirty foodish keyboard The flowers wilt and nearly all are dead My mind's not here, tis' so much further seaward I do not read this tome, this blackened Phoenix I should be plucking out its worthy guts Full three more thousand words on it are needed Or all my tuition's fee has gone to fuck
Yet soft my blood it wants a journey A holiday and beachy view, not learning Always out in wind toss'd trees I'm walking In my head, not citations a-forking This looks like leisure, reading precious books But is a lot more irritating than it looks

I have a lot of HP fen to ask permissions for, or else I'll be sent to fan prison. I haven't used any private communities or friends-only posts, but I'd better be sure. Not sure how Fametracker fits in (that's a random bunch of posters). I bet that Usenet doesn't need permissions at all; it's the wild primitive caveman-pirate-sex of the net. There are no crybabies on Usenet.
Also I have to hand in a dissertation with quotes from people called things like "luna_lovegrove" and "snobfin9978" with only a URL to put in the footnotes. Claaassy.
