A'ight, those of you who asked for fic links, eyes this way. If I didn't forget anything, this should be every fic concerning Havoc that I've written since joining this fandom, as well as every fic that I've ever posted for other fandoms in this journal. If it ain't here, it can be found using the "request drabbles" tag. Also, I beg that you heed warnings on the fics.

Thirdly, if you're more interested in drawings, hit up the "artpost" tag.

Y'know all those fanfiction memes that start with questions like "When was the first time you wrote fanfic?"

Well, here's my answer.

I was ten, and I didn't know it was fanfic at the time.

When I was in fifth grade, we had a teacher who was an old-school Commie-hater who'd never quite twigged on that the Cold War was over, and decided to teach us about the Space Race for some reason or another. This lesson was the first time I'd ever heard of Laika the Cosmonaut Dog, and the teacher used her to drill into our heads how horrible the Russians are, because who could purposely send a cute little mutt on a space mission they knew would kill her? The whole idea upset me so badly that when we had a creative writing assignment later in the year, I wrote my first ever alternate-timeline fic, in which Laika lived and I adopted her (ten-year-olds don't care about fucking time paradoxes, get off my case).

So there you go.

Don't know how many people on my f-list are Girl Genius readers, but as a minor point of interest, I've taken on a project to do requested characters as their opposite sex for [info]girlgenius_lab. I'm horribly behind on the whole mess, but I decided to show off the three I've finished so far anyway.

So...

Apparently, everyone who participated in LJ's DonorsChoose drive got a complimentary second certificate to use for any project they wanted. The project I'd used the first one on had already been completed, so I went surfing about, and decided I really liked the idea behind "The Picasso on Poplar Street", an elementary school art education program. I did a few clicks, gave them the certificate donation, and then forgot all about it for months.

I got a package in the mail today.

All the kids in the class had made me thank-you cards, and there was a little Crayola crayon pencil and some photographs of the classroom with their new study prints. You could totally tell the teacher had made it a class project, contacting everyone who'd donated to them.

I cried anyway.

Because I felt like it, because a couple of people IMed me and asked, I decided to do an extra bit to go along with my Avatar/FMA arc. Namely, the eventually-important-to-the-plot backstory of how Toph ended up in Amestris in the first place. Whoo!

To a certain professor:

Have the fucking decency to actually say something to my face. Don't you dare praise me to the high heavens in a public critique, then go and grade me as low as you possibly can, and excuse it with "well, I just think you can do better". Tell me what's wrong, instead of giving me a false sense of security for several weeks before dropping a bomb on me. I do not enjoy being jerked around, especially by someone in whom I'd previously trusted to give their honest opinion.

If you'd told me everything in my grade in crit, even as unfair as the criteria by which you graded me was, I might have gotten a little upset, but I'm a big girl and would have gotten over it. After a few minutes, I would have thought "Well, yeah, I probably could stand to do *this* and *this* and tweak *this*."

That's if you had been honest. Know what I'm thinking now? It goes a little something like this.

"Fuck you. Fuck your opinions, fuck your critique, fuck your grading method, fuck your teaching method, and fuck your class."

Either her senses were adjusting, or Aang's tie to her was getting stronger, because she was aware of him returning even before he popped back into the room beside her, full of babbling information about all the strange things and people he'd seen in his reconnaissance trip.

"Did you find me a way out?" she asked, cutting him off before he could get going. Not that she didn't want to know his opinion of her 'second life', but first things first.

"Huh? Oh, yeah. Once you get your al...alka... however it is you bend here back, break down the door and I'll guide you from there."

"Good. Where's the sun at?"

"If it goes east to west like at home, it's about an hour to sundown."

By what Jean -should she still call him that now?- had told her, it was almost time to go then. Kicking the plate aside, she got to her feet, deciding to limber up a bit for running. After the constant dripping of the pipes in the wall behind her, and the skittering-tapping of the ants in the crack across the room, she needed to hear another voice for a bit, and brought up their aborted conversation for a change of sound. "So, Twinkletoes, what do you think of it here?" she asked as she popped her back and neck.

"This place is really weird," he replied from her left. "I mean here in general, not here here. This room's just creepy. But there aren't any horses aboveground, just metal things that move without earthbenders, and people with funny clothes and hair colors."

"I've ridden in one of the metal things. The seats inside it are a lot softer than the ones on the trains in Ba Sing Se. But you're right about it being weird. Even though I can somehow understand the language, a lot of things, like names and stuff, don't make any sense at all. Where's the sun now?"

"Starting to go past the horizon," he answered after a moment of silence that she assumed was him checking.

"Great. Let's blow this place."

This time, when she clapped her hands, she felt the familiar hum through her body, and the grin was almost maniacal as she channeled the energy of that hum into the ground with a little more force than was probably necessary. An impressed whistle came from her right when the door blew off its hinges and banged off the wall on the other side of the hall.

"So that's how it works. Neat."

"Lead the way, Twinkletoes. We got someone to find."

"Right. Turn left down this hallway, then left again when we get to the end of it."

She stopped to catch her breath when they made it aboveground, more out of desire to get as much of the fresh air in her lungs as possible than out of actually being winded. She just needed a second after so many days stuck in that nasty, stale place with the smell of blood continually following her in her head.

”You okay?” He sounded concerned.

“I’m good,” she said after a second and another deep breath. “So….which way?”

***************

She hovered near one of the outer walls of the military base, waiting for him to come back. ”I’m sure I saw the guy when I was looking around,” he’d said. ”But I don’t know if he’s still here.” And, while it went against her style, breaking in without knowing if their target was even in residence or not wouldn’t be the brightest idea, she had to admit. She had a pretty good idea of what the weapons here could do, and had no desire to be a target.

”Found ‘im!” his voice called from above, and she lifted her head.

“Where?”

“Go straight twenty paces, then up over the wall. Then when you get to the edge of the bushes, go up about as high as three Appas. That’ll be the window I saw him in.”

“Guards?”

“Only at the gates, and you’ll be out of their sight.”

Sweet. With his voice guiding her, she made her way along the wall and clapped her hands again, and she couldn’t help a grin as she did so. The transformation, the not being able to cross over, the escape… that had all been painful. Now, all she had to do was convince this guy, if he was the one she was looking for, to help them find Jean.

And as far as she was concerned, this would be the easiest part. She’d make it be the easiest part.

A bit of fic from one of my newer fandoms to clear some of this week's crap from my head. Depending on how things go tonight, I may or may not have some FMA fic to post tomorrow.

Title: Reminiscing
Fandom: Dolls
Pairing: Kei/Seiju
Rating: PG13
Warnings: Underage (Kei's fifteen here, but referencing events several years previous). A little disjointed, mostly due to borderline-stalker train of thought.

Summary: It's been years, and Kei's not so little any more, but a certain member of the Tokkei still occupies his mind the majority of the time.

I'm probably the only person on the planet who enjoys these combinations:

- Tobacco Onions + Queso Dip
- Macaroni and Cheese + Pinto Beans
- Egg + Macaroni + Pepper Jack Cheese = Omelette

- Grape Tomatoes + Blue Cheese Dressing (and nothing else)
- Potato Chips + Honey Mustard Dressing
- Salty Pita Chips + Fruit Yogurt
- Pomegranate Juice + Mountain Dew (Code Red or Game Fuel)

I'm a bitterly sulking Biscuit today.

- Why do the yaoi fangirls ignore canon gay? Is it just not as much fun to play with when the creators agree with you? Am I gonna have to write all this shit myself, just to have something to read?

- I don't normally get clingy and possessive, but that pairing was mine, dammit. Aside from people I requested fic from, I was the only one writing it for a year. It's not fair that people are crediting you for inventing it, just because you tied it in with a pairing that reaches a much bigger audience than my writing does.

- Fuck, I don't want to go to class tonight and deal with Dipshits 1 and 2 (and AIM buddies, most of you know exactly who I'm talking about).

- Bite me, brain. I'm too pissy right now to manage anything coherent in the way of fic. Stop throwing bunnies at me.

I'm working on fic. Several at once, actually. I don't know when I'll actually post any of it, since this has been a rather uncomfortable and chaotic week for reasons I'd prefer not to disclose, but it will get posted. Eventually.
