Primeval!
Wow, this season is a rollercoaster! Don't want to spoil anything, but does it look like they are trying for a HUGE cast change? Love the new military guy though. What he did at end of Eps 7? LOVE! However, she should lose the crown because she is supposed to represent California and I refuse to believe this state is nothing more than braindead, bigoted, bimbos! She is UGLY on the inside. Horribly, monstrously UGLY. People like her make California an ugly place. That is why she should lose the crown. Who cares what she looks like on the outside? She's proven time and again her insides are terrible enough to turn a person's hair white if they were ever forced to view her inner person. But, oh well, the Donald took one look at her boobs and let her keep the crown. I really wouldn't mind if I believed he did it for the right reasons. How about we go all the way?
So marriage is all about making babies huh? Nothing about love and all about making women into things there for a man's use?! You really want to go there aholes? Fine then.
I propose a new amendment to the Constitution:
As marriage is formed for the purpose of producing children, couples are required to produce their first child within 2 years. The marriage will be annulled if the wife does not become pregnant within that time limit as the couple cannot meet the standards for a marriage. They may reapply for marriage after 5 years if they wish to try again. However, as they failed to conduct a proper marriage the first time, their petition may be denied for any reason.
Those who have passed the childbearing age may not marry. If they are currently married, the marriage is automatically annulled as they do not meet the standards of marriage any longer. The barren are not allowed to marry as they cannot meet the standards of marriage.
Those who cannot meet the standards of marriage are not banned from adopting, however.
Any wife who loses a pregnancy while working is banned from having a job until she produces at least 3 healthy children. If the wife is found to be working while pregnant after having miscarried, she will be detained in a medical facility until the pregnancy comes to term. She will monitored by the state for the next 10 years to ensure she performs the requirements fo marriage properly.
Sounds bad doesn't it? Or maybe that is what you fucking Yes on 8 sickos want? Woman reduced to property? To chattel? That's what "traditional marriage" was all about. If the thought of treating people like the amendment about doesn't make you sick, get the fuck off my planet. Or at least my state. We don't need bigots and racists here. And Utah? Darth Failin and McLiar....I hate politics I really hate politics. It brings out the worst in people. I don't belong to any party, I vote for who I believe will do the best. Over the years, I've seen some low stuff when elections come around, but dear sweet GOD! McCain and Palin are low. So low even a cynic like me is shocked. Palin actually ENCOURAGED racist language according to reports at CNN, TIME, Andrew Sullivan, and a host of other sites. How can ANY civilized person stand by and do nothing? The horrid woman just smiles and refuses to talk to the press like some sort of spoiled queen bee. Heck, the press aren't even allowed to talk to people at certain rallies anymore. (and you don't need any guesses to figure out what language was used at the rallies the press found themselves coraled away from people) The more I read, the more I want to throw up. What happened to my country? When did people become mindless drones driven by foolish lies, half-truths, distortions, and outright filth? What kind of leader smiles at racial hate, encourages it, allows it?! NO kind of good, decent leader. Only a small, insignificant, useless, petty person can do such a thing. I hardly ever make up my mind until far closer to an election. I like to know everything I can, choose carefully. Palin's disgusting behavior and actions speak louder than any words she could ever say. That woman's disgraceful behavior is not something this country needs.
McCain is just as bad. He used to have my respect. Don't get me wrong, I NEVER liked the man. But he told the truth as he knew it and stuck by it. I respect that. Yet he changed. Now he lies almost like breathing. He allows his staff to tell vicious lies about his opponent, even supports some of the lies. They distort the truth and even murder the truth for their goals. Some of the ads I have seen were so monstrously twisted, I knew the truth had been horribly killed to make them. We've had enough of this with Bush and Darth Cheney. I honestly don't think America will survive four more years of stupidity, dishonesty, and overblown egos. I cannot vote for a man who wouldn't know the truth if it came up and bit him in the butt. Ah, you say, she must be an Obama supporter. Actually, I'm not. I don't know if I will vote for him. There are others still in the race. I might decide they are better canidates. All I can say for sure is that Palin and McCain are NOT worthy. They have acted so poorly there are not words vile enough to describe their actions. Where is the America I believed in? Where is the place people are dying to protect? Where is the place and the people that never would have put up with Darth Failin and McLiar? Who would have demanded they clean up their act? Has crass behavior, lies, and dishonesty become so acceptable?

Week in a life gone nuts So, trying to get all my fics back as I found I have some rather large holes in my files. Also, pissed as hell about a lot of stuff. It's the end of the year and my nerves are rubbed raw by far too many idiots, morons, and flat out wastes of air. I have seniors who threw away every chance given to them whining about how they did their best. WTF? Since when is ditching classes made especially for you to make up credits, ditching regular school as well, not doing a single bit of work in ANY class, and refusing to pass the state graduation test, doing your best?! Then a parent comes to school and disrupts everything for FOUR hours because her daughter got a ONE hour detention. ARGH. Then there are students who tell me that I can't give them the F they earned cause mommy and daddy will beat me up. Too much stupid! This makes me irritable. I warn you now that this is going to be a hardcore rant as I am pissed as fuck, tired beyond bearing, in way too much pain, and just wondering why I keep trying with people like this in the world. Navy Federal and BofA Heartless Fucktards or just plain assholes?
So Navy Federal is calling about 24 times a day to remind me to pay them. And then HANG UP. That's right. The second they hear my voice they hang up. EVERY SINGLE TIME. I have to call them back to make the payment and they promise to stop calling...but don't. All day long they call and hang up. And they insist that if I would just ignore my need to eat and have a roof over my head, this wouldn't happen. I'm the bad guy for being poor. I have almost all my other bills paid off and will be paying them off ASAP once I have the money. I don't need greedy, heartless bastards in my life.
As for BofA, they have started charging THEORETICAL overdraft fees. Yes, you read that right. THEORETICAL OVERDRAFT FEES. Seems last week I checked my account balance before going out and getting some things for my garden. (Hey with things they way they are, I won't be able to eat soon, so growing some fruits and veggies to, hopefully, make things a little easier.) Now I knew there were a few charges coming in, but I was getting a loan paid back to me later and would have the money to cover them before they hit. So I thought I had enough. Turns out I forgot a couple of things that put me over. However, I got more overdraft fees than there were overdrafts! So I called. I was told that although my online account is advertised as UP-TO-THE-MINUTE accurate....it actually isn't. (False advertising much?) There were charges that BofA knew about but didn't show on the webpage. Though they showed I had money, I actually didn't. SO when I made those purchases for my garden, I was supposedly overdrafting. It didn't matter that money was put in later to cover them. (BEFORE the other charges hit my account.) IN THEORY I was overdrawn.
See, BofA works like this. You make a charge and they automatically withdraw the money...and then a day later PUT IT BACK! Then they wait for the merchant to confirm the charge. Takes a day or two. Now IF I make some purchases that I know will need to be covered and put money in the bank BEFORE they hit, doesn't matter. I'm still gonna get hit with overdraft fees. Why? Because BofA knows about those other, first, charges that they are holding and will now count them against my balance even though they don't show. Even if I get money in there so NOTHING overdrafts, I will still get hit with the fees. WTF?! And yes, that is actually what the BofA rep. told me. That is exactly what the rep told me. I can keep my balance in the black and still get hit with fees for overdrafting!

Fresh food, a jacuzzi, the Dr and Dinos
Well, finished the garden last weekend. One of my roommates and I went out on Sunday and got it all done. Our other roommate would have helped, but she worked until 6 am and we weren't about to wake her up. We got some small storage bins and turned them into portable planters as well. We also managed to get the flowers planted. Was a lot of work and we both got sunburned, but it was worth it. Now if only the seeds will grow.
The dirt here is crap for growing things so we used planting soil and some fertilizer sticks. Still, I think we might be better off just making planters to grow stuff in. However, we have 6 tomato plants and they should survive. It's the cucumbers, raspberries, strawberries, and carrots I worry about.
As for the front, both roomies are drawing ideas for converting the front and back yards. We're building a raised planter in the front yard. However, since most of it is in the shade a good part of the day, we need to find plants that can stand it. The back yard will have a jacuzzi (one that is highly energy and water efficient!), small koi pond, and a stone pathway, as well as shaded table for relaxing at night. Our plan is firming up, we just have to figure out where to put things.
Frankly it was nice working with my hands again. I used to be real good with them and could build or make anything. But then I got away from that and kind of miss the work of building things. Even if it is a bit hard on my joints, the pain is worth the sense of having done something worthwhile.
In joint news, I have my first of 3 MRI's today. Neck, lower spine, and knee. My neurosurgeon thinks he knows what is wrong and causing all the pain, but wants the MRI's first to verify or shoot down his theory. Today's will be the worst one as I have to go into the machine head first...and I am terrified of tiny spaces. The last time they did this to look at my hip, I opened my eyes, saw the ceiling an inch away...and my heart rate and blood pressure went through the roof. They told me to calm down or they would stop as I was in danger of having a serious heart problem. My friends will be there waiting for me, so I have to focus on that and not open my eyes. Most importantly, keep my imagination elsewhere.
The new season of Dr. Who didn't impress me much. STILL no new worlds, aliens, etc. Are they ever going to take the Dr. to alien worlds full of aliens? Or are we going to continue with mostly earth adventures with a few mostly not seen aliens? I think it is just the old school fan in me. The Doctors used to go to fantastical worlds with aliens inhabiting them. Yes, I know they were poorly done, but it was still fun.
Kind of a SPOILER for PRIMEVAL here......so don't read further if you don't want it...
Stephan's character is dead. For good. In an interview last week, the people in charge said Stephan was not coming back. Not even as a weird anomaly change. In fact, they wanted to kill him off at the end of season 1. Not sure if happy about this or not. Didn't much like the character in season 2. They are replacing him with a Ryan like character...only one with a personality. Might be fun...but have to wait about a year to find out. Filming of the new season starts this month. Primeval season 3?!
So looks like the show was renewed for a 3rd season. Very excited! They promise even more surprises and it looks like the guy who plays Stephan hasn't been removed from the cast list. Hmmm......oversight or something more?
I am intrigued with the picture Cutter was holding at the end of the last eps. Was it just me or did that look like a wedding photo? The way they were standing, holding hands, looking at the camera. Am tempted to write a comedy fic where Helen pops into to see how her experiments in changing the timeline have gone only to find Stephan is with Conner and Ryan, Abby is with Caroline, and Cutter is with BOTH Lester and Claudia Brown and no one knows who the heck she is. Then discovers the Anamolies are closed forever. Yes, I can have an evil sense of humor. And it really is so tempting.
I wish they would Ryan back. I liked him. The character deserved so much more development. Maybe season 3. They are holding their cards close to their vests though. Sigh....no matter what...can't wait.
Torchwood is just about over......not sure what to make of the last preview. Looked a bit dark for Ianto. Are they finally going to bring in a hugely serious issue? Is Hart really that jealous?
Not sure if I am looking forward to new Dr Who or not. The addition of Rose bothers me. She's ok...but....damn she annoyed the hell out of me by the end. Also, hello?! Where is the male companion? The Dr almost always had a male companion as well. I admit, at the end there, they were focused mostly on women.....not even very interesting women. Peri? I wanted to smack her so badly! They were also hinting at the Dr going evil. Now that caught my interest and kept me watching....no matter how stupid the women got...but then they never did anything with it! And when are we going to get some alien worlds and actual aliens? And I don't mean a few prancing around Earth! Yeah the old Dr had not so great special effects, but at least they tried to make alien worlds, societies, and actual aliens. Is RTD too unimaginative to come up with any?

So browsing a site I came across site that boggled my mind. I mean, WOW...the sheer amount of hate and stupidity spewed by this site was just too incredible to believe. World Net Daily blew my mind. I'm used to mindless blather, racism, and hate being spewed on Nazis site and the like...but this site actually tries to pass itself off as some sort of news site. How can they do this? Chuck Norris calling for mutilation of people based on their sexual preferences? Saying women stop being human when they are pregnant? (IE. the baby becomes way more important than the mother and has way more rights.)

Well Primeval was picked up for a 3rd season. YEA! Can't wait. They promise even more twists and the return of a certain dead someone. I so want to see Ryan back. He was fun.
Samurai Warriors 2 XL is out in less than a week!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't help it, they've added more cuties and the old ones are there....hopefully with storylines this time.
Students are pretty unhappy right now. Some of their favorite teachers got RIFed. The admin is nervous enough to start holding lock down drills. Sigh. One muscle-bound, ego maniac can really ruin your day. Several have worried that I might be leaving. Am considering it. Could retire, but then what?

RIF......Really, Intensely FUCKED
So thanks to the moronic govenator, Cali is losing one of the things it really can't afford to.....teachers. This week, all over the state, teachers are getting RIF notices. In other words, we don't need you anymore, fuck off. And since all districts are doing this, their chances of finding other jobs....not so good. Fucked....really really fucked.
Yep, that's right. Rather than cut the fat, that idiot in charge is going to gut education. Such a great idea! (Why did people vote for this brain dead buffoon?)
Where I am, any teacher who is not tenured faces a RIF. Those who only have one year with the district WILL be getting a RIF. In addition to letting pretty much all the non-tenured teachers go, they are firing 38 tenured teachers. That's in addition to the 120 who are leaving on their own due to retirement or other issues. None of those people will be replaced. Which means teachers face classrooms of about 50 students per period. So about 120 hours of work a week. Well, at least for English teachers who have to grade essays, research papers, etc.
In fact, 12th grade English and History teachers will now be teaching two classes in one. That's gonna be fun. Sarcasm here.
But it gets even more joyous. Teachers have been warned that more tenured teachers will be RIFed UNLESS all teacher agree to a pretty damn big pay cut, pay twice as much for their insurance and prescriptions, and no supplies for school. We want paper to photocopy the REQUIRED exams? We buy the paper. We don't? We get written up.
Still better, the District office, so far, plans to lose NOTHING. They are getting raises from what I last heard. NOW this is the same D.O. that spent $300,000 buying themselves decked out SUV's so they could go skiing or to the beach, over $20,000 to send guys who DO NOT hire teachers to go to France to find a French teacher, and created a high paying job with NO duties so one of their girlfriends could sit on her ass all day and earn big bucks.
There is so much fat at the D.O., if it were a person, it wouldn't be able to move and would be in the World's Record books. I haven't seen a single thing that says any of that fat is getting cut. Who in the name of all that is Holy spends $1500 a MONTH on gas?! Even with the gas prices!
Now, with teachers gone, classes will be much bigger, making more work for fewer people, with no drop in expectations for test scores, thus more pressure on the remaining teachers. Who in the FUCKING HELL thinks this is a good idea?!
The only bright point so far this week has been two students making some funny verbal misteps.
1. When a student commented that estrogen found in tap water is a sex change drug, another young male shouted out "I take those everyday!" Then found out we were talking about a sex change drug. He thought we were talking about vitamins. Love my students
2. I give my students their writing assignment and the silence is broken by a young man singing along to his Ipod. The lyrics? "I just can't get enough of that boy!"
Sigh, why did I want to be a teacher again? Why did I think people were worth trying for? I am just so tired right now.
