+ I'm making this post in Dreamwidth, and it should crosspost automatically to my LJ and IJ from here if I'm doing it right.

+ I got new glasses and contacts on Saturday. Woot! I think my new glasses look a lot better on me than my old ones, which will motivate me to actually wear them more. :P

+ Also, I got an iphone! *boogies* Tax money FTW. I love it, it's the shiniest toy I have ever had. I am freaking out a little, though. I managed to go for eight-ish years of keeping a cell phone without ever having a contract (My old phone was prepaid.) Now, I'm stuck with AT&T for the next two years, for better or worse. Commitment makes me nervous. XP

+ I marathoned SGA again this weekend, and I'm now up to ep 5x08, The Queen. I think my reaction to season four and part of five deserves its own post, really, which I'll make later, but if I could describe it in one word, it would be: Ouch. Strangely not any less ouchy for having expected it.

**In other news, I checked out Twilight recently, just to see what all the fuss is about. Have yet to read it so I guess we'll see. A brief flip-through tells me I shan't need more than an hour or two to read it, so.

**One of my front tires blew out on my way home from work today. A huge shout-out to the two dudes who both stopped to help me change it after I pulled over. I drove on the spare to VoldieMart to get a new tire, and the other three also need replaced, which I'll have to see to next week. Ah, unexpected expenses, how I love hate thee. But really, it could have been far worse, so I'll not complain much. :)

**I have next week off. The whole of it. *bounces around* Haven't had a vacation since I started my current job in March 06 so, yeah. I need a break.

**I also need to write. head/desk=OTP.

** So You Think You Can Dance ended last night, and yes, I'm fan of the show, even if I don't, like, vote or anything. ha. But the dancing and talent are spectacular, and ( teeny cut for spoilers, heh )

** I start class again (grad school) on the 30th. Intro to Bioinformatics every Thursday night after work. It's just one class a week which isn't bad, but with studying and such it cuts into fandom time. meh.

** I signed up for sexy_brilliance and hermione_smut, and haven't started my fics for either as yet. *headdesk* sexy_brilliance is due in two weeks, so that's the first order of business. God, and I said I'd not do another exchange. WTF, self?

** Why yes, I do have a new layout. :D I think I might keep it for a while. And I spent way too much time replicating it at my three other journals. (I'm the same username at Insane Journal, Greatest Journal, and JournalFen, so as always, feel free to add me.)

** I'm beyond tired of reading posts and comments about Boldgate and lj_biz and SixApart and and and. It can be quite addictive to follow it all, but now I'm completely overloaded with it. No moar plzkthnx. Suffice it to say that I'm posting to all four journals and that I'm keeping up with my other f-lists so I don't lose anyone who's leaving LJ. One thing, though: Does anyone know of a good tutorial for Semagic? I guess I just need to set aside the time to try and figure it out.

So, here we go again, I suppose. :/ 

Massive wank and talk of an exodus from LJ. It looks like two well-known fanartists and LJ users, ponderosa121 and elaboration, have had their accounts permanently suspended (and their entries purged, I believe) because of 'questionable'  fanart they posted at Pornish.  No warning and on the weekend of another HP convention. -smites-

(Incidentally, LJ apparently no longer uses the strikethrough to signify a suspended/deleted account. Because, yes. That makes it better. I suppose "BOLDFACE '07" doesn't quite have the same ring in terms of PR. *snerk*)

Damn it, I really don't want to leave LJ. None of the suspensions affect me personally because I don't write or draw any chan, but it sucks for people that I know, it's causing a lot of negativity, and if a lot of people leave then there's a huge issue of our community (HP or fandoms in general) becoming scattered. My f-list isn't huge, but I don't want to lose ya'll. Any of you. :(    -clings-

Honestly, I think if there is a mass exodus to another privately held journal service, the problem wouldn't go away. Not unless somehow fandom makes their own place. Not only that, but HP isn't my only fandom/LJ interest. So, I don't intend to leave LJ at this time, but if any of you who haven't already would like to friend me over at Greatest Journal and Insane Journal feel free, and I'll add back. I'll be trying to keep up with them. And let me know where your journals are, if you have them elsewhere. *sigh* What a mess.

So, this week is off to a crazy start with spoilers, etc., and it's only going to get worse, I'm assuming. I've mostly just been really curious about all this, and how the next 4-5 days will go, as I wasn't on LJ or an active fandomer at all for HBP or any of the other books so I had no idea about all this craziness. This should be interesting. :P

Anyway, I wanted to go on record about spoilers as pertains to my personal journal. I have, for the most part, been reading them. To a certain degree, I don't particularly mind seeing them myself because I've sort of decided (as much as I can) not to believe or expect anything that I've not actually read from the book when it's in my hands on Saturday. I have been discussing them in chat away from lj and very briefly in other journals/forums/communities.

However. Just FYI for those on my f-list who aren't interested in spoilers, I will not be posting, discussing, or reacting to any spoilers here in my personal journal. (Not like I post that often anyway, but still. haha! Just in case.) I don't wish to have anyone commenting about or discussing spoilers in comments to this journal. Even if you don't say what the spoiler is, even if it's just a reaction to a spoiler you read elsewhere. I don't even mind discussing them; I just don't want to tick off anyone who isn't into spoilers and accidentally stumbles on them while reading a post about SHH or something in my journal. :D I've disabled anonymous posting and such.

Most people on my f-list been really good about lj-cutting spoilers, etc or just not mentioning them at all, so I don't think any of you would do this, but just for the record, because I have seen some lj-cut text that's pretty suggestive of how poster feels about spoilers, etc.

Okay, also. My fic exchanges are done! (practically, hee.) So now I can focus back on RPing, and challenges. erotic_elves has opened their challenges to watchers, and this month's is Endings and Beginnings. (First or last time sex, IOW.) I'm going to do one, and link to it over there. Also, harmonic_erotic's doing a Smut-ify Canon Challenge. Am so far uninspired for that one, as I'm not fond of during-Hogwarts fics, but you never know. Then, of course, there are all the prompt tables I haven't started. heh. So. Yes. I've a lot of writing to do. :D Let's see if any of it gets done. :P

Hey, all. I just wanted to point to some of the fics I especially liked from a few of the exchange communities I'm watching, sunandsmut  and reversathon . :D You guys should all watch as they cover a lot of different pairings and characters and there's some really good writing happening.

One I particularly enjoyed from sunandsmut  was Shelter. It's actually Viktor/Luna, which I'd never read before, and actually, I don't really envision Viktor with anyone but Hermione, but the characterisations of Viktor and Luna, as well as the overall story, are just lovely. It's 8352 words and definitely worth the read.

For the Blaise lovers on my f-list, there's a completely gorgeous piece posted at reversathon , The Choices We Make. It's beautifully written, gripping, and full of Zabini goodness. (!!!!)

Also at reversathon , two lovely Bill/Hermione fics, One Hell of a Woman, and Taking the Lead. Bill/Hermione is a recent love of mine, and these two stories are just full of UST, emotion, and great characterisation -- not to mention very inventive plots.

These exchanges are anonymous, so the authors will be revealed later.

On the Harry/Hermione (OTP OMG) front -- and I've been remiss for not mentioning these sooner:

On a related note, my OTPers out there should all be watching hghpficexchange . -nods- I'm looking forward to reading some good h/hr once posting starts for that.
