It was staring at him. He could feel it. Those dark, beady eyes, that ever-present smile. Every night, watching him from the crook of his hyung's arm, accusatory gaze daring him to move, to speak, to breathe. He had thought, when they finally moved into the new place, that this was his chance. He had thought that as roommates, he might finally be able to confess.
Many times, he had imagined those soft gazes and trembling lips, his hyung leaning into his kiss, professing a secret love that might or might not have been locked in the older boy's heart, as it had long been flowering within his own.
He had even tried, several times, to approach their stoic leader, to confess the fluffy and wholly inappropriate feeling he had come to realize was probably love (as like was not quite strong enough a word to describe it). A feeling that was something more than friendship, but less than family.
With every attempt at confession, there was always that silently watching from the middle of the bed, freezing him cold in his tracks. But today, today he had a plan. Marching resolutely forward, the singer shoved the small woodland creature underneath Yunho's pillow and breathed a sigh of relief. Now, everything was perfect.
Minutes, hours ticked resolutely by as he waited, hands sweating nervously, for the other man to return home, for the daily ritual played out by the five to end, and for everyone to retire to their rooms. It was time, he was finally going to say everything that had been trapped in his heart these last few years, and hopefully, oh how he hoped, Yunho would return his feelings. And this time, there would be no interruptions.
As his beloved leader-sshi entered, the singer bit his lip and sucked in a breath, eyes wandering anywhere and everywhere except toward the man on the other side of the room. "Ano. Yunho-ah..."
A catch in his throat, as he pondered which words to say. Now that the time was upon him, all his carefully planned speeches seemed so corny, so childish, so completely not the way he wanted to confess.
A deep blush lit his face as he heard muffled sounds of cloth against cloth, the sounds of his roommate getting ready for bed. If he didn't act quickly, he would lose this hard-won chance. Didn't they always say that talk is cheap? Maybe he should just do what his brain had been telling him to since the first day they had spoken.
[[A battle of wills and tongues as the shorter of the two shoved his leader up against the nearest wall, all wet heat and wandering hands, breath and duty forgotten in the heat of-]]
Shaking his head to clear the oh so very naughty thoughts before they caused an embarrassing physical reaction, which he most definitely did not want ruining his beautiful confession, the boy turned to face his (soon to be) lover. He could do this, yes he could. Now or never. Junsu hwaiting!
Wait, what is that? In Yunnie's hand? How.... A cold chill passed down his spine as deep brown, terrified eyes locked with dark, ever-placid ones. As the stuffed deer smirked up at him from its traditional place in Yunho's arms, Junsu felt his heart plummet to the floor.
"You have something you want to say to me?" Jung Yunho looked at his companion, hopeful that today Junsu would finally just confess the feelings that were increasingly obvious to anyone who would take the time to notice.
But, alas, it was not to be. The indecisive singer bolted from the room, leaving behind a confused Yunho, and that abominable stuffed deer, which Junsu swore was silently laughing at him. Rounding into the kitchen, the tortured boy slammed his head repeatedly into the tarmac of the kitchen table, all the while cursing the one who had given his precious leader the toy, the creature, that was now the source of his psychological instability.
Back in the room they shared, the other boy shrugged, snuggling into his blankets as he clutched his favorite plushie to his heart, a contented smile lighting on his lips. And from the embracing circle of his arms, Bambi smiled, eyes gleaming maliciously as he trained his gaze at the door Xiah Junsu had used to escape.
