You have GOT to be kidding me.
As if I needed proof that our country's puritanical, right-wing, ultra-conservative atmosphere had gone way over the top, I was given that proof today in the form of a news story from Massachusetts:

This is absolutely absurd. I have been to several Celtic festivals, and while there are often children present (which makes it somewhat awkward for the parents), and most people probably wouldn't want to see an octogenarian's rear-end if they had a choice in the matter, these festivals are all about having fun! I would have been laughing my ass off (pun intended) if I had seen this in person, and everyone I know would have laughed too. Certainly anyone who has heard the Scotsman and knows how it REALLY ends would have appreciated that the "first prize" wasn't actually shown. It could have been a lot worse, people!

For this old man to have been actually arrested for what he did, makes me lose even more faith in our nation as a whole, and specifically in Massachusetts. This is the state where I spent years as a college student and used to proudly call home; a state which I thought was firmly planted on the left end of the political spectrum, where freedom of speech and an intelligent sense of humor were revered above all else.

Now all I can say is... citizens of Massachusetts, you're all bums!! (pun intended, but probably not appreciated!)
