[FIC] The Chains We Choose, the Heroes We Lose 4/? (FF7)
Title: The Chains We Choose, the Heroes We Lose 4/?
Rating: I'm working on that 'R'. I am. Really. It's just not here, yet...
Summary: A different reason for Nibelheim. This is an AU, spawned by one of Jessara's free-range plotbunnies.
    Paring/Characters: Cloud/Sephiroth, hints of Zack/Cloud
Warnings: We have reached the 'non-con and drug use (but not the usual way)' part of the story. Elements of D/s, mind-control. Yes, there will be character death. 'Cause, hey, Nibelheim...
Notes: *Meep* The Muses took over and kinda ran with this, into the Undiscovered Country. I haven't been able to get hold of a copy of Last Order (BitTorrent hates me), so this Zack is not 'canon-compliant'. ;) And... ::dithers:: Some artistic license taken with materia effects.I wanted to hold back on this until I had the other part ready, but... holidays. And augh! But I have a 7+ hour plane ride...

    Previous parts are here.

    Back from the dead...
Actually, I'm tired of trying to get my LJ fic journal to remember me. So I'll end up moving a lot of stuff here, I think. Just as well, as I intended that journal to be PG-13 posts only, and the stuff I'm writing now... isn't PG-13.

So, to completely overwhelm myself with work:

    Here's your medal...
Yes, indeed, the list is for slash fiction and fan-art. The archive for the list is for the fiction, not the art. Posting the links to your wallpapers does not mean they will be archived, you have to submit directly to the archive for that.

And... when you announce you're getting your own list, how about you keep your one-wallpaper-at-a-time updates *to* your list? It's not the wallpapers I object to, or the content. It's that you post three or four a week, as soon as you have each done. Nothing wrong with posting links when you have *several* to display, especially since it looks like at this rate, you'd be doing these weekly anyway. Since this is what you've been doing for a month-plus.

But this is getting pretty close to spamming, especially when you *do* have your own list. This is an archive list. For many people. It's not your private showboat.

    Gah.
What part of "AU" is so tough to understand? Of course it's going to deviate from the canon. It's an AU! You want the manga storyline? Read the manga. It's that simple.

Secondly, what is up with the "I prefer character A X character B stories, but yours isn't bad." I'm sorry, was there a compliment in there somewhere?

And lastly, especially with writing: 'There's good, and there's fast, but there's no such thing as good and fast.' For my style, anyway.

Hey, God, I need more than 24 hours...seriously.
I just spent over half the day asleep. I mean, did-not-move-once-and-my-muscles-are-bitching-me-out-for-it asleep. I've been doing that a lot lately, tl the point where I'm not sure what day it is, anymore. I know, part of it is n reaction to the week+ of stress of dealing with The Neighbor, and other RL issues. (Info is in multiple LJ entries, for those on my f-lsit there, who might be curious.) I pretty much tapped all the reserves I had.

And the pressure is on, writing-wise. I wrote out a list of the writing projects I've gotten started (not counting the Seekrit Projekts) or have promised...I think I need a Sabbatical, or something.

The List: it just keeps on growing. )

At this rate, I could probably claim to do this for a living.

[Edit: Now, I just have to update the site. And get that dratted blood out of my caffiene!]

    Grr. Argh. *strangle*
Thanks to a power-outtage for half the building, our snazzy new fire alarm went off at 11:30 p.m. No fire, just the warning that there was system trouble and power trouble for the alarm system. Would've been great...if we had been told who and where to call in case such a thing happened. Called DPW, called the FD, no joy. Sat up until 3:30 because the alarm box is on the first floor--and guess where I live?

Then the entire building lost power around four. Power came back on at five--I am now listening to everyone scramble as they realize they've overslept/the automatic coffee-brewer didn't come on/there's no hot water/etc.

And I have this slab of writer's granite to chisel through.

    At least it's not Monday.

    Writing differently.
It's interesting to discover I've sort of type-cast (man, what an awful pun) myself, writing-wise. Whether it's G/L/B (not forgetting the last, just haven't written it, so can't claim it) or het, my characters (fan-fic or original) have some things in common:

    * The women start out strong
All of my girls have Been There, and don't believe a double-X chromosone means they have to play doormat. Even when I write Anthy from RGU, she's not weak--no, the word I want, I think, is timid.

Even Erde, who really surprised me as I started to write more about her (yes, I'll post links for those interested) showed different types of strength. I write the female equivalent of the brooding hero of romance novels.

    Kill me now.

    * I can manage humor--if it's sheer stress-release/parody stuff, like when Hilary and I did Ex-Y. I cannot do genki slapstick wig-out freaky humor. y'know, the stuff rather common in anime? ;/ )

Okay...I finally DL'ed *all* of the stuff I'd written in The Est, intending to use it for the Venusian Club. (Names of Est chars who interacted with Justin & Lance will be changed, unless the muns give me the go-ahead to keep it as is.). Journal entries, comments, raw chat logs.

It clocked in at 133 pages.

    I think that exceeds Shieldmates..

Of course, about half of Justin's stuff was written by Hilary, who deserves great praise. *grin*

I'm planning to delete the journals, to free up server-space for the JF owners.

Eventually, the stuff will be moved to a separate web page.

    133 pages. *boggle*

    Argh.
For the curious, that scream of frustration some of you may have heard at 2:35 Eastern time...was me.

I have a couple of Seekrit Projekts in the works (mangled spelling solely so I don't take myself too seriously. ;) ). So, being snowbound for...uh, a while, I figured I'd do the formatting for what's completed of Project #1, since that takes forever, and involves making title graphics and such.

However, on reading some of the material more closely...I realized it didn't meet the format I wanted for that section. So I either have to re-write--but I'm happy with them as is--or put them someplace else, and come up with new stuff for the original section.

Is it too cold for chardonnay?

And the ObFan stuff: Tantalus Redeemed, an improv written for the Temps_Mort community at LJ. The time limit was 90 minutes, so I had to stop at a mostly unsatisfying point (for me as an author), but I plan to continue it. Something like this begs to be written, and the MoB fandom just doesn't have enough smut.

About time I posted something fannish here...
These are some manips I've done for the InuYasha fandom--specifically, the anti-Kikyou camp, of which I am a proud, flag-waving member. None of these are icon-sized, sadly (unless your graphics program is much better than mine at reducing size without reducing quality, in which case, have at it). I'm not going to be a bitch and shrill about credit if you want to use them someplace, but like with stories, just let me know where they're going, hmm?

    And today is...Surreal Thursday!
It started so well...then annoying things began happening--like the messenger who should've picked up a check not even being told there was a pick up. (I love waiting an hour and a half for no purpose.) Then there's things like the banner proudly proclaiming, "Grave Blankets, Ready to Go!"

Then there was the one of those awful wire-and-light reindeer things (I call them twist-tie critters) in the window of an otherwise classy-enough Chinese restaurant. Right under the neon "Beck's" sign. And you know how I mis-read that at first. Did I mention the rain? When I finally got home after running all over town doing things I thought would be done by mid-afternoon but weren't because of the messenger mess-up, I unpacked the shopping, then paused at one point, realizing I literally had dinner and a movie in the bag.

I started the Helliday Project today, since everything else was going wonky. What's the Helliday Project? Not tellin'. But it means four stories got started today.

And I'm so tired I could be scraped up off the floor with a spatula.

    Inbox funnies.
    Sometimes, ya gotta laugh.

So, while browsing through my mail for my anime pen-name (said inbox being full of "Where I dl pirated copies of the OVA that isn't even sub-titled in English yet, so I can gawk at bishies almost having sex despite not understanding a single word they're saying?") I came across a notice of a review left for one of my stories at one of the anime archives.

Right below it was the latest Mark Morford newsletter, subject header: "What, are you on drugs?"

Irony: another name for the Internet.

Hope everyone is holding up under stresses, both RL and holiday related.

Gimme the laptop, no-one gets hurt...well maybe me...
Do you have any idea how bloody difficult it is to transcribe stuff into the computer when neither the tab key, the caps lock key, one or both--they take turns--shift keys, or the thrice damned return key is working? I've cleaned the keyboard. I done everything. The 'board is dying, and must be replaced, but since this is an old machine, it'll be cheaper just to get a new comp.

And just when the writer's drought let up a little, too.

    A touch of evil...
I've finally gotten around to re-writing the Est stuff I wrote, set in my own AU. (Heh heh...welcome to the Venusian Club, ladies and gentlemen...), with permission from my writing partner. I'll only be re-soing the Lance/Justin/Erde stuff.

I feel the Evil brewing already. I'm even making a webpage for them. *cackle* (Hil, I'll send the stuff to you before posting, just in case you want to add/embelish/delete anything, 'kay?) It's fun tormenting the Blondes again.

And Erde is finally going to come into her own. I never could do much with her in the Est...but now, the sweet, demusre servant girl is going to show her fangs. I can hardly wait!.

M!Erde: the Boy won't know what hit him.
Me: Aside from the bit on the living room floor, you mean?
    M!Erde: ...

    Ha! Victory!
