| 4:25 am | OMG!!! Kingdom in the Clouds! In Romanian! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpubaGB9 10-minute clip of the opening of Kingdom in the Clouds in the original Romanian!!! (?) MOST OF WHICH HAS BEEN CUT FROM THE U.S. ENGLISH-LANGUAGE DUB!!! Argh! That whole sequence with the hero as a baby, and his parents? MISSING! The bit where he crosses himself beside the bells before setting out on his journey? Missing! All that's left between the opening credits and his encounter with the old man who spins the wheel of time (which I think happens just after this YouTube clip ends) in the copy I have is him walking around a bit. His parents are only seen from the back in wide shot for a milisecond. There is no woman doing a voiceover! There are no three fates dancing around! WTF! I wonder WHAT ELSE has been cut from this movie for its American release. I wonder what was included in the French-dubbed version I saw as a child. It's been so long. Why isn't this out on DVD?! I'd buy it in Romanian, Region 2, anything, just to have the full thing in my possession at last! ETA: http://video.google.com/videoplay?d 41 minutes from the film! *faints* ETA2: Possibly this is still dubbed footage? Or, not -- the logo matches this Romanian television website: www.tvr.ro |

| 10:39 pm | LJ down. *sniff* JournalFen: good for a rainy day. In fannish news (as my aikido report doesn't count, waaah): watched the last three or so episodes of the original "Dalek" serial today, then "The Edge of Destruction". Then the documentary feature about the origins of the show, cheering at Verity Lambert and Delia Derbyshire. The lack of whovian icons on my JF journal suddenly strikes me as a grevious oversight. |
