Still alive [26 Sep 2009|09:10pm] [ mood | exhausted ] [ music | thumping footsteps and slamming doors in the hotel hallway ] Just a quick post to let y'all know that severity_softly and I survived our encounter with the near-east side, found Coop's mama's house, and took some awesome pictures of the side of Indianapolis that Mayor Ballard wishes didn't exist. Also ate at Bazbeaux, where she had fancy pizza and my half was boring. Quick poll: Poll #483 Pepperoni? Never happens to me when I'm alone, so it must be that severity_softly is the hottie of the two of us. Walked along Kissing Lane, but my wifey refused to put out or even hold my hand. :P We also bought tea in a little tea shop and took in a fun comedy act by Dwayne Perkins. We've driven all OVER this city today. Tomorrow I'm thinking Crown Hill Cemetery to find John Dillinger's grave and see where Coops' grampaw is buried, then Broadripple Village before supper with my parents. And now we're working on the novel while trying to ignore the obnoxious high school soccer players in our hotel. post comment

YIPPEE! [11 Jun 2009|08:41pm] [ mood | thoughtful ] Whee! 3409 / 20000 words. 17% done! Thanks to storms that were rolling through when I first got home from work tonight, I got a lot more writing done on the bau_bigbang fic. Thanks to kyrdwyn I have started using Q10 for writing -- it's a full-screen word processor that has a running word count at the bottom and a timer you can set and even makes typewriter noises. Through the Q10 website I discovered Portable Apps and have been using that word processor while at work (because if I'm at work, I want to write unobtrusively, not full-screen). So anyway, got a lot of work done on that, and now I've reached the hard part of the fic. Yippee. It's been a nice evening, though. I got home, ate dinner, then took the netbook and a glass of wine to bed with me. I expect I'll be going to sleep in the next hour and a half or so. And my head is feeling much better. Watching this animation amuses me to no end. My cat is random and weird like this, though he doesn't chase bugs. I love having an icon that illustrates the weirdness of cats. elements - waterfae by valo_queen I picked this one up while working on an original fic challenge that was based on the elements. The element we were writing about at that time was water, obviously. And since I wanted to write something in my Regent's modern fantasy universe, I wanted an icon that had some sort of fae feeling to it. This one seemed to fit. 1cm - lol stfu by sweet_revenge00 I've always loved this scene from "Someone's Watching" in season one of Criminal Minds, and when I saw this icon, I knew I had to have it. It's such a good summation of the canon relationship between Morgan and Reid at that point in time in the show. 3cm - emily/derek kiss by severity_softly This is from a photo shoot of some sort, and my dear wifey Severity made the icon. I LOVE the way Paget is holding on to Shemar, the sexy way her hand curls around his arm. This is the icon that made me start shipping Derek/Emily, and though you haven't seen the InnerSeverity fic yet, it's coming soon. :D 1cm - multiship made by me and resized by tabiji I made this icon when I realized that there are very few ships in Criminal Minds that I don't like. Emily's expression in the one frame is as much to illustrate my own feeling as anything. Home [14 Apr 2009|04:05pm] [ mood | tired ] So I get back from vacation and suddenly I see you all mentioning Dreamwidth. Why is everyone wanting a new blogging site? And why do I, the inveterate I-hate-things-that-everyone-else-loves person, want one too? Just how much did I miss while I was gone for, like, five days? In Vegas news, I danced and drank a lot, walked a lot, didn't eat enough, went to my first gay club, saw the tallest concrete dam in the US, LOVED Phantom, and came out ahead in gambling because I won $26 (which tells you just how much I gambled). Hanging out with astraea36 and her husband and friends was SO much fun! Except that, as you all know, I was very wibbly when they started boarding her flight. :( Clearly we're going to have to plan to get together again soon. The worst part, I think, besides having blisters on my feet and my ankle spending much of the trip protesting at home much walking we were doing, was the redeye home. I wasn't expecting it to be crowded, for some reason. I mean, a 10:30 flight on Monday night. *sigh* But the dude next to me snored like a really loud snoring thing, and despite having his freakin' wife on the other side of me, he kept pushing in on my space while sleeping. And the guy behind me kept nudging my seat. I finally laid my seat back just to piss him off. Then I realized it was very comfy that way, so I stayed that way. I did get some sleep, but I ended up crashing some time between 8 and 9 this morning as I was trying to read a fic we have to post. Got up again between 1 and 2, so hopefully I'll still be able to sleep tonight. darkhawkhealer, as soon as I get my computer to register my media card, I will upload some skyline pics for you. I hope they turned out well. :D And I'll be posting general trip pictures later. astraea36 made me promise not to post any pictures that I think are atrocious. Of course, my opinion of atrocious is different from hers, since I think she is beautiful. I really don't want to go back to work tomorrow. post comment
