first post, yay!

I guess now that I have this shiny new journal, I should use it.

I can't decide how I'm going to utilize this journal, if it'll be fandom only, or both fandom and real life, or whatever, though I've decided I'm going to friend lots more people , whether I have them friended on LiveJournal or not (because I'm often too <s>chicken shit</s> shy to friend people over there, even though there are lots of writers that I'd like to friend.)

For now, I'm going to try to cross post to LJ, IJ and here. We'll see how long that actually lasts.

So, you know, here goes. Free music. All cover songs.

Music! Cover songs! Woot!

Bye Bye Baby by the Detroit Cobras. This band is my new favorite obsession. They exclusively cover old Motown songs with a rock n' roll twist, very distinctive and fun.

I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got by Bettye Lavette. An A Capella cover of Sinead O'Conner's song. Really bluesy and fabulous.

Waiting on a Friend by Luna. The Stones' songs get covered quite a bit. This is one of my favorite.

Clampdown by Poster Children. A cover of the Clash's anti-establishment song. Whee!

Romeo and Juliet by the Indigo Girls. It was hard to pick one cover by these ladies, and though I think their version of Tangled Up In Blue is my favorite, I also really like this one. I don't even have the original Dire Straits' version of this song, which is depressing, because I thought I did. But at least I have a good cover.

What a Wonderful World by Joey Ramone. This is really for r_becca, because I uploaded this somewhere else a while ago, and she got to it too late. Happy, happy song.

Every Breath You Take by the Violent Femmes. Minimalist Rock for the win.

And something that's not a cover song, because I uploaded the wrong version. I meant to put up the Sunday's Wild Horses, but instead here's the original Rolling Stones' song, which is like the cover for me, because the Sunday's cover was the first version I heard. I think I was fourteen, on my very first date, where my parents dropped me off to see Fear with a boy I liked. It's an unfortunate first date movie, really, especially for awkward teenagers, but the song is good. The original is good too.

Wild Horses by the Rolling Stones.

Also, JF mood themes rock!
