Current music:	Boys of Summer---The REAL version

Worst. Covertune. EVER.
Does anyone else hate that new version of "Boys of Summer" by the Ataris (I think?). I just cringe every time I hear it.

The original song was sad and happy all at the same time--it always evoked memories of a love lost and remembered...but this new one--Aaargh! It sounds like a garage band practicing for the upcoming Battle of the Bands or something (remember those?). They've lost all the feeling that was in the song, it's just noise now.

bad covers

Well, I haven't heard it yet -- I can't stand the local djs on the rock stations, so I usually listen to the oldies or the classical stations, or NPR (I know, I know, this makes me a geek, but I can't help it).

However, submitted for the worst cover of the millenium, I present Pearl Jam and "Last Kiss". In the original tearjerker the song was bad enough. They're the only group I've ever heard who managed to make their version More Lugubrious than the original.

When I get my Johnny Cash fix from Amazon, I'll get to hear his cover of Nine Inch Nails' Hurt, which I understand is very good. Considering I haven't heard Nine Inch Nails, this should be interesting.
