So ![[info]](http://www.journalfen.net/img/userinfo.gif) tez alerted me to the existence of  roleplaysecrets, which I promptly READ OBSESSIVELY LIKE THE TRAINWRECK IT IS, and now I want to start LJ RPing, except the only concentration of characters in my fandom are in a stupid game and are largely from a different era of the canon than the one I enjoy.

(Also, Snackeh told me about fandomsecrets, and even though I KNOW half of them are made up, I CAN'T STOP READING. HALP.)

So I looked up Hetalia to see what all the shootin' was about.
SERIOUSLY? SERIOUSLY?!? THIS IS WHAT FANDOM IS ON ABOUT?
The art, ALL OF IT, is napkin-doodle quality. The row of chibi country-people you keep seeing? That's not fanart, that's actual art from the creator of the series! This may be the only thing ever where the fanart is all of higher quality than the source material.
Did fandom get past "good lord, the art is atrocious" wanking and switch to Godwin and racism wanking while I wasn't looking? Or did Hetalia fans just bite the bullet on that one? 'Cause that art is seriously indefensible.*
(Yeah, yeah, it's basically a webcomic, but I don't remember people wanking this hard over Sluggy Freelance, which has similarly shitty art. But then, Sluggy didn't get a TV show.)
*It doesn't seem likely that all of Rob Liefeld's fans jumped ship to a yaoi comic.

As long as we're out of the "everybody loves-loves the Doctor but he only loves the showrunner self-insert character...oh, and he's a bad person but please ignore that because we keep casting pretty actors" era, they could have picked Pauly Shore and I'd learn to like it. Ergo, I have no real opinion re: Mr. Smith, but am eager to see the door hit Rusty's fangirl ass on his way out.
So there.

I don't get why people are all upset about how quickly Doctor Who burns through lead actors. "Oh noes, we'll hit 13 soon!" Yeah, whatever. The Master started at 12 or 13 and he's been played by four(?)* different actors and a CGI snake since then. When the counter rolls to 14, they can fix it in a Christmas special, or with three lines of dialogue if they're feelin' lazy.

I'm starting to see some seriously emotionally bereft responses as the news that Tennant is leaving Doctor Who trickles out. Like, "I am worried about your emotional stability in light of the revelation that you are this connected to a character" bereft.
I like Ten just fine, but...he looks and acts like a hyperactive ferret, y'all. And Rusty's writing hasn't helped. I'm looking forward to the new guy, because he will presumably not be a twitchy freakshow. (They've established the Doctor's not going to regenerate as a woman, right? *le sigh*) Also to NEVER BEING SUBJECTED TO RUSTY'S FANGIRL SENSIBILITIES AGAIN AHAHAHAHA.

LibraryThing, which is awesome, has something called the Early Reviewers program, which is also awesome. In the last batch of ER books, I was "lucky" enough to get one, The Black Whole, which is not awesome. I wrote my required review accordingly.
I poked around a bit with my Plucky Girl Detective skillz, and found out that the press that put out the book has an invite-only forum. And I don't have a mole! :(
(They enclosed a letter with the book asking me to email them when my review was up, but now I'm kind of afraid to, 'cause they don't exactly seem to be dripping with professionalism.)

So, in this month's picspam poll, there's the usual Karl-the-eternal-bridesmaid shenanigans (one day, Bree!), but also, down at the bottom, is "famous vampires," which is really cool but stands no chance of winning unless there's some ballot box stuffing later.
So I'mma do a vamp picspam for Halloween, instead. Help me make a list! And also feel free to direct people over here to help, too!

Yeaaaaah, my taste for crappy 90s-00s vampire movies, let me show you it. I'm gonna need some help filling in the Hammer and other low-budget mid-century productions. Also Buffy/Angel, 'cause I don't know shit about the Whedonverse.
