I generally use my Myspace account now, but I had to put this one on Journalfen too. I just ran into this article. It's on bird IQ, and which birds are the most intelligent. This is one line from the article (bold mine):
"The crows, the jays, that kind of bird - the corvidae - are the tops; then the falcons are second, the hawks the herons and the woodpecker rank quite high."
I shall now use that as proof that Herons are smarter than Harmonians!
(I'm kidding, of course. I'm not Mystic Knight.)

I spend virtually no time on Sugarquill. In fact, I find my OTP's fandom pretty dull. I didn't even register for the forums until a few months ago, and I've been aware of them for several years. I love R/Hr in canon, but... Portkey, on the other hand, amuses me endlessly. The layout is prettier, and there is so much more of that wonderful ranting and raving that I enjoy so much.

I got back on EQ2 recently (yes, I can't bring myself to cancel even if I haven't played in months) to check and see the new SOGA models.
EQ2, may I ask WTF?
One of the fun things about fantasy games is the fanciful armor. EQ2 has bland armor. You say it's because you wanted to go for the realistic look. Okay, I'm cool with that. Realistic. Then why things like gravity-defying hair? And, why does every armor set you show outside of the game look like this?
EQ2, you lose.
There, I have whined. Now I can call myself a full-fledged (former) EQ2 player.

There is a community out there devoted to Harry Potter characters as Vampires, complete with a layout bordered by a red-eyed Daniel Radcliffe who has blood dripping dramatically from his mouth.
I just have to say again that I loved Rowling's portrayal of the vampire and silly fangirls in HBP.

It's a scene that most likely won't make it into the theatrical cut (perhaps onto the DVD as a deleted scene) because, let's face it, as tragic and cuddly as Severus might be (don't laugh; that's honestly what I think of him at times)
... *laughs*
In the second one, the WIP, Hermione, Snape, and Draco are the only survivors from the school.
Rocks fell, everyone died. Well, almost everyone.
There is a Sex Ban at Hogwarts and the seventh years do not like it.
Ghosts can walk right through the walls. I wonder what couples do if a ghost decides to waltz through the room that they are trying to get it on in? I can just imagine Myrtle stopping and watching. That would really put a damper on things, eh?

With just a few strikethroughs I can put some sixth-book alterations into this quote!
"Harry and Hermione Ginny will get together in the end, but another ship will be sacrificed for the purpose -R/Hr G/D. Harry has to spend some time apart from Hermione Ginny in other to realize his feelings for her. In the meanwhile, Ron Dean and Hermione Ginny will get together and split apart."
Just sayin'.

There are some words you can search fanfiction.net with that are pretty much guaranteed to give you a fic with which to enjoy a nice WTF. I used "angel" to get a fic that is one of the more WTF-worthy fics I've seen on the site. It's a creative fic, but apart from the names of the characters, if she was trying to hit the Harry Potter world she aimed about three universes too far to the left.

I'm always trying to figure out what to do with my journals since I find talking about my life very dull, and I never seem to get around to writing long essays on...anything. I've finally decided what I'm going to try, at least for a while. I wander the internet most every night and find all kinds of crazy things. I figure I'll set them here for posterity. I'm leaving off names and places to protect the sensitive, but these are real quotes (and my comments on them.) ;)
( H/Hr fandom has been providing a lot of material. )

I picked up the Dark Materials trilogy, and I'm on the second book now. I suppose I was inspired because I've heard it mentioned frequently and generally positively, and, of course, there is that Harmonian icon promoting Lyra and Will as a couple. I'm on book two now, and there was one moment that really struck me. I think Lyra is an ESTP, and Will an INFJ (which is an entertaining mix). Lyra and Will are in our world, and they meet each other on a bench after Lyra speaks with a "scholar." Will spends a great deal of time devoted to worrying about staying under the radar, so when Lyra stands up and talks to two cops, he has an outburst of RAGE, and he and Lyra argue. But Lyra HAD been staying under the radar - she just had a different way of doing it, a very E way. Whereas Will tried to avoid people, Lyra would approach them to misdirect their gaze. Two ways of accomplishing the same thing, essentially. It was really interesting to me to watch them think the other one was going about things the wrong way, and even more so, think the other one wasn't taking things seriously. Huge conflict in ways of interpreting the world, and lots of inability to see the world in a light that may not come naturally. After that, accusing each other of not taking things seriously because they can't find another explanation for each other's "wrong" behavior. Rock on.
And, um, I just completely ignored all of the witches and angels and symbolism and talked about a scene with two characters on a bench. Go figure. ^^;

I miss the 'ship debates.
I was having a lot of fun debating couples before HBP came out, and I was almost disappointed that characters had finally been matched up pretty clearly, even for Harmonians. Little did I know, the internet was set to explode and give me an onslaught of a different kind of entertainment. That's been fun and good, but I'm beginning to miss having those determined Harmonians around that cause me to analyze and re-analyze what I think and how I should say it. That was fun!
I've seen some threads on Portkey from people (like Obsidian Warlock) who are beginning to argue that H/Hr is still inevitable. It seems like they are at least convincing some people. I think it would be fun if they manage to convince enough people that H/Hr is still a contender so that new life could be breathed back into the arguments. Of course, you always have to be careful what you wish for, right?
And how come the words I'm always looking for in my posts for the "mood" section are never an option?

The HMS STFU is gone. I think I'll miss it. I thought that the HMS STFU had a tendancy to go overboard, but it was useful for finding a large collection of 'shipping stupidity all in one place.
Hopefully it will rise from the dead again.

I've been reading Fandom Wank for a very long time (and even begging friends to post reports for me on occasion - namely the EQ2 Name Nazi report and the R/Hr Lack of American Education report. Good times.) Now that I have an account, I'll probably continue to say very little. Yay.
The name Kalypsi is taken from my mithra on FFXI. Mithra are cat-girls, and the mischeivous and seductive thing works for them, so I considered "Calypso." That sounds a bit dramatic, though, and I wanted to change it into something that sounded cuter. Later I found out that kalypsi is an actual word... Ah, well. As for the "cat" tagged onto the end of my name, would you believe it? Kalypsi was already taken! /shock I decided to add the cat because, well, a mithra is a cat. I'm creative like that.
