There is a thread on Portkey called "A Study of Shippers" in which a few shippers are thinking of asking Harry Potter shippers in general some questions such as :

Are your parents still married to each other?
Yes

Have you ever been in a relationship where you frequently argued with your partner?
No

Have you ever had your heart broken?
Not by a romantic relationship

What is the highest level of education you have received?
I have a B.A.

What was your favourite subject in highschool?
Geography

What is your favourite non HP book?
The Lord of the Rings, though the Slayers novels are a pretty close second. ;)

Name one characteristic that you believe is essential in a long term partner?
Just one? Sheesh. For me? I guess I'd ultimately have to go with the partner having a good heart. I'd prefer a little more than that, but at least with that basis I wouldn't end up with a sociopath.
In general, I think that it depends on the individual so much that I can't make a judgement.

I guess as far as the classic view of the opposing side as young, stupid, and inexperienced goes, I don't fit the mark, and I don't think that should be surprising at all. As interesting as these kinds of surveys are, in my experience 'shippers are 'shippers. As groups, 'shippers who take the time to fill out surveys are pretty similar to each other. I imagine nothing would come of it.

Ideal answers from an OBHWF shipper:

Are your parents still married to each other?
They never were. No one knows who my father is, anyway. Actually, I'm starting to wonder if my mom is my real mom ...

Have you ever been in a relationship where you frequently argued with your partner?
If by "argued" you mean "beaten" then yes.

Have you ever had your heart broken?
Many, many times. It's been my experience that broken hearts usually coincide with broken condoms.

What is the highest level of education you have received?
I dropped out of high school shortly after that first broken heart/broken condom fiasco.

What was your favourite subject in highschool?
Lunch.

What is your favourite non HP book?
The Disney Princess Sticker Book.

Name one characteristic that you believe is essential in a long term partner?
The ability to hold a job for more than two weeks. It's so rare to find that in a man nowadays!

I guess I get to do the other side, then ...

Are your parents still married to each other?
Oh, yes. Just the other day my father made my mother breakfast in bed. They snuggle all the time.

Have you ever been in a relationship where you frequently argued with your partner?
Of course not! I'd never go out with someone who I could argue with. Don't be silly. *g*

Have you ever had your heart broken?
No. Actually, I've been with the same man my whole life -- never dated another.

What is the highest level of education you have received?
I'm going for my second Ph D right now.

What was your favourite subject in highschool?
Ooh, that's hard. I can't choose between AP Calculus and Advanced Literature Interpretation.

What is your favourite non HP book?
Emma, definitely.

Name one characteristic that you believe is essential in a long term partner?
Well, he's got to be brave, patient, loyal to me, temperate ... well, let's just say he needs to be perfect, so that we can match.

So..what couples you like in HP is supposedly based on what kind of relationship you want in real life? Does that mean that the Harry/Draco shippers want a love/hate relationship? And the Snarry shippers want to seduce their teachers?

Wow, I never knew that Harry Potter shipping was such a SERIOUS business.

Hey, you friended me. Thanks.:)
