6:37a Bad day ahead? The brother who plays video games at 5am with sound (the kind with the big vroooom), the father who forgot to turn off his waking clock (the kind with the bip, of course, no the music), the cats who piss everywhere when I don't have time to clean... I hope the three were enough. I'm supposed to be free at 2pm, let's see what will go wrong! (Like, she'll sleep until 16h30 when I need to go in town this afternoon, for example.)

6:36p So today, I thought I had the day from hell today: 1. Lost $30 metrocard 2. Got a shitty schedule 3. Worked for 10 hours in the federal building with no access to internet 4. I couldn't RP I got home and find out that LJ might close, except not. I'll be here until LJ is, but in case you want to find me elsewhere Titti at IJ, Titti at JF, Titti at CJ and Titti at Inksome. I also have a MySpace, Facebook, and Vox, oh and one of those Twitter thingise, but they have never been used. Finally you can put all of your links at The Directorium Then I thought about things that happen the world: 1. People are dying in Gaza 2. I've seen about 10 people detained by immigration today, including one of my clients, a woman with 2 US children and a husband, because she had tried to enter in the US back in 1997. 3. 9:35p Work tonight. Sorta. It's always sooner that planned. I was supposed to watch Sam Tuesday (day) and Wednesday (morning). But my sister got sick, and she couldn't take care of her daughter, and she missed work, so one day and half more for me, and she has to work tonight, meaning adding tomorrow (day). And now, Micka must also work tonight (mostly early morning, 1am or so) so I'm leaving tonight to spend the night at their home. At least, I wouldn't have to rush for dressing tomorrow, I'll be able to stay in pyjama until her morning nap. current mood: amused

7:41p Merlin 1x1 L'appel du Dragon. Merlin 1x01 Hi! This post will be completely in French, a recap of the first episode of Merlin, with picspam. You could always look the pretty, I guess. The Dragon's Call/ L' Appel du Dragon. Il était une fois, dans un pays pas si lointain, dans un temps qui lui l'est, lointain, une voix off qui parle de destinée. En autre, que personne ne peut la deviner. Et encore moins le gringalet qui s'approche de Camelot sans se douter de la légende qu'il deviendra: Merlin. Attention, oubliez tout ce que vous savez sur les légendes de Merlin et d'Arthur, parce que cette série-là prend pas mal de liberté avec. ( Read more... ) Dans le prochain episode, un sale tricheur de chevalier gagne ses duels grâce à des serpents magiques planqué sur son bouclier. Oui, sur, puisque c'est magique. Quant à quand, ben, je dirais bien Dimanche prochain, mais bon. On va bien voir.

11:11p Book review: The Sound of Angels by Lisa Silverthorne Since I wrote this up for Goodreads.com, I thought I'd share it here. The Sound of Angels by Lisa Silverthorne My review rating: 4 of 5 stars I confess, I wanted this book to be better. I used to work with Lisa Silverthorne, and she was a great encouragement to me in my own writing. I felt this collection could have been stronger overall. Some of the stories had weak endings, and the copy editing wasn't that great (which isn't Silverthorne's fault, of course.) That said, there are some magnificent stories in this collection. The beginning story, "When Sparrows Fall" is fascinating both in premise and in execution. The title story, "The Sound of Angels", is a sad-yet-uplifting near-future speculative story. "Snow Angels" is a chilling futuristic tale. "Rena 733" is probably my favorite of the book (though "When Sparrows Fall" runs a close second). "The Spirit House" is another excellent story. The others in this collection aren't bad by any means. But several stories seem to end rather abruptly, or at least without punch. Stories like "Wild Feed" and "Peace of Lace" have a fantastic premise and inspired execution through the beginning and middle, but leave the reader feeling a bit let down at the end. I do think this book is worth buying, and that Lisa Silverthorne is definitely a name to watch. View all my reviews. You can check out the author's website at www.drewes.org. current mood: sleepy
