New Jersey Family Opens Home to Stranded UK Family

WNBC-4, New York City's local NBC affiliate, ran a story on last night's 11pm news about the many travelers stranded at our area airports due to the Icelandic volcano that erupted. One such group of travelers was the Jordan family from Yorkshire, England, who were stuck at Newark Liberty Airport for several days trying to get home from a trip to Vegas. Dead phone, cash running so low they were down to one meal a day for two adults and a child, and no idea what they were going to do. Things were looking grim.

Viewers bombarded the station's website the second the report aired, wanting to know what they could do to help the Jordan family. One New Jersey family in particular stepped up and gave this story a happy ending.

Have any Forgotten Realms fans here heard the 4E spoilers?

If they're true, it looks like a shark jump of Saga rules Krynn/World of Darkness proportions.

Copypasta from the Realms mailing list.

"Although this has already been revealed in the novels, most of the Drow
gods have been axed. All that's left is Lolth, Eilistraee, and
Ghaunadaur. Later Ghaunadaur is attacked by Lolth and moves to the Deep
Caverns.

And in 1383 a bunch of dwarven deities bite it. Gorm, Heala, Laduguer,
and Deep Duerra die in battle with each other. The book says that
Hammergrim "disperses" into the Astral. To me, that sounds like it
breaks off from the Fiendish Planes and is toast.

In 1384 DR, Tyr kills Helm in a romantic misunderstanding over the heart
of Tymora. Though nothing can be proved, the gods believe that Cyric is
somehow involved in Helm's death.

In 1385 DR, With help from Shar, Cyric murders Mystra in Dweomerheart,
destroying the plane and Savras, as well as sending Azuth and Velsharoon
into the Astral plane. Cyric gets put under "house Arrest" for the next
1000 years by Ao.

Magic bursts from the bonds of the Weave. Thousands of mages are driven
insane or destroyed, and the very substance of the world becomes mutable
beneath the veils of azure fire that dance across the sky.

Finally, we have the Spellplague. Apparently many planes are "shifted"
or destroyed. The book states that only the greater gods can protect
their respective planes from the destruction. I think this might mean
that some of the lesser [and intermediate] gods might not make it.

The last sentence of the book says that the Weave is destroyed and the
"old world" ends and a new one begins. What that means is anybody's guess."

Thoughts? I think this would be a cool AU (though in my campaign Vhaeraun isn't dead, dammit), but an odd direction to take canon. Considering the braintrust at WotC these days, this is shaping up to be Time of Troubles on crack.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Valentine!

(x-posted from LJ)

As Pope, High Priestess and Caterer of the Orthodox Church of Vincent Valentine, Latter-Day Goth Chicks, I'd like to wish everyone's favorite spook a very happy whatever-the-fuck birthday. In honor of the Patron Saint of Angsty Melodrama (and gorgeous hair!), I'll share a terrible filk I wrote years ago back when I still did that sort of thing. To the tune of "Bela Lugosi's Dead", I give you...

Black on black translucent red capes
Back on the rack
Vincent Valentine's dead

Hojo's left the Shinra Mansion
The victim has been bled
Black velvet lines the purple box

Vincent Valentine's dead
Vincent Valentine's dead
Undead undead undead
Undead undead undead

The Sephiroth clones file past his tomb
Cursed by Hojo's nightmares
Lucretia left too soon
Locked in a basement room
The Turk

Vincent Valentine's dead
Vincent Valentine's dead
Vincent Valentine's dead
Undead undead undead
Undead undead undead
Undead

Poor Vincent
Vincent's undead
Poor Vincent

I should probably post something

So it doesn't look like I'm solely using this to access the wank comms, which of course I totally am. I'm a hardcore FF fangirl from way back, and can wank with the best of them myself. I realize I'm a big dork, and accept the fact that I sound stupid most of the time.

More to come if I'm not feeling too lazy.
