So, I haven't read the Twilight books, and don't intend to, because everything I've read about them makes me think that I would dislike them.

(Not only dislike, but be offended. Both at the poor writing and the implied attitudes.)

And yet, somehow, I don't think that the author deserves to be mocked for being upset about the leak of one of her drafts. Earning millions on sparkly vampires doesn't mean that he should just smile and say "I can't be sad because I have MILLIONS OF ILL-GOTTEN DOLLARS" when something happens that would upset most normal human beings.

If I was in the same situation, I would be upset, embarrassed, and disinclined to continue as well.

While I can sympathize with her feelings, putting them publicly on display like that is tacky, and hints at both attempting to shame those leaked the chapters and attempting to garner sympathy. It would have been a lot more dignified to have said nothing, put Midnight Sun on hold to see if the passage of time would allow her to get on with it, and if not to scuttle the project without any big-to-do.

I just don't see how it's tacky for her to say that she's hurt by the leak.

If it wasn't reasonable for her to be hurt, or if she had been screaming profanities and pointing fingers at specific individuals, then I could see "tacky," but she hasn't done that.

I don't think it's tacky, but I do think it was unprofessional. Thus said...I sympathize with her a LOT. And no one can be professional all the time.

Just seems to me that feelings like that are something that you'd share with your family and friends, not millions of strangers.

A leaked manuscript isn't a divorce or something personal like that.

And considering that the millions of strangers are the ones that caused the hurt by spreading the draft around, I'm kind of boggled at the idea that she shouldn't address them about it.

Hmmm, point.

I'm kind of boggled at everyone calling her a "bitch" and a "twat."

Why, that's not tacky at all.

I haven't read the comments on that post because I knew I would be tempted to get srs bizness on some people.
