Last Sunday I took 23 squares to the Pine Street Inn Knit-a-Thon and stayed there and worked at weaving in ends for about three hours. Then my low-level panic from being in a crowded room with people I didn't know rose to a much higher level, so much so that I was shaking, so I handed off the square I had in my hand to a very nice person and got the hell out of there. It took me a while to get home, but I got there. Thank you to all who donated and all who cheered me on. You rock. :-) I heard later that we (all right, I didn't sew anything, but I helped!) assembled 46 blankets, almost double the number assembled last year. Greg took pictures of my squares, but hasn't found the cable to connect the camera to the computer, so I can't post them yet. I will remind him to look and hope to get the pictures posted this week.
Last night Greg and I went to see Richard Shindell perform at the 10 PM show at Passim, and that was really crowded too, so I did some freaking out there too, but quiet freaking out. I loved the four new songs he performed, and he did a couple that I enjoyed, and more that made me cry and shake. He writes dark and dense songs, so no surprise there, but that part wasn't fun. I'm still glad that we made the effort to go, but I doubt that I'll want to do that again. However, he doesn't come to the States that often (he's in South America now), so maybe by the time he's touring again I'll want to. I'd rather see him at the Somerville Theatre.
Vienna Teng is coming to Passim for two shows, but they're already sold out, dammit. We both really wanted to see her again. Next time, I'll hope. I'll sign up for her mailing list so that I'll get better advance notice.
I have two more mountain dulcimer lessons left in my class, which is going well. I've gotten really good at retuning on the fly, and I've learned some neat songs. Lorraine talked about having a three-lesson class in December for holiday songs, and if she does, I'm taking it. I love holiday songs. I'm already enrolled in her Practical Music Theory class starting in mid-January. She says that learning music theory will help with dulcimer-playing. I know some from my years of piano training, but I look forward to learning more. She's a fine teacher and a wonderful person.
I have to work at getting some writing done. I think that I need to switch projects. Maybe it's time to write that tale of the prince and the stableboy, or maybe it's time to get back to the threesome story, or maybe it's time to start something new. I'll have to see.
I am now at the point with exercising that I feel weird if I don't walk or ride 30 minutes a day, and have to find a way to do that. Thank goodness for the little reading light Debbie gave me. It works very well attached to the book stand on my stationary bike, so now I can ride even when it's dark out. I have to read while I ride, or I get too bored.
Now to get some outside clothes on and walk over for some subs. I'm hungry.
