Aaand we've been slashdotted. Again.

In one rather inventive move, permanent and paid account users are contacting their credit card companies to demand refunds, because Livejournal is essentially altering the contract. Can they succeed? Possibly."
I never heard about the suits. I knew about the credit card companies and letters to various mental health organizations about their Pro-Ana stupidity, but what's the word on the suits? Anyone have any links? |

To whoever the hell was responsible for yesterday's Wank Meltdown:
So, let me see if I can sum this up based on all the posts I've read today...
S00pr S3kkrit CABAL O'DOOM: Blah blah community going to shit blah blah blah hey, lets delete to TEACH THEM A LESSON OMGYAY blah blah *delete!* blah blah *undelete!* blah blah blah blah OMGZORRRONOYOUDIDN'T blah blah we were only trying to do what was best for f_w!!! blah blah yackety shmackety.

Fucking wanky, and not in a good way.
I don't have anything against the mods of fandom_wank, and I don't have anything against the noobz or 0ld sk00l members. Modding a 100+-headed hydra like f_w is a job I do not envy in the least, because I've modded before and I know what it's like to have to enforce rules and try to avoid being the bad guy at the same time. Same with BNF-dom - just because someone's been around the community forever does not make them ev0l elitist asshats and the fact that someone is a new member does not automatically mean that they're immature trolls who just won't get with it.
I still say what I've been saying all along - taking into account the sheer size of the f_w community, troublemakers like this phoenix guy (whoever the hell [s]he is) and their ilk are FAR outnumbered by ordinary non-1337, non-troublemaking average wankers who are just here for the funny. Now, unfortunately, EVERYONE'S pissed, including the good n00bz and us quiet little guys who never did anything to start problems.
Deletion, when done properly, could have achieved the desired effect. If problems were REALLY this serious, then serious action needed to be taken. More of an honest, direct "All jokes aside - cut this shit out, 'cause it's not cool" approach. Truly serious problems can't be solved with not-serious remedies.
If people had been warned and realized what was going on, many of the troublemakers (whoever they may be) may have stopped to reconsider their actions and change their behavior. If there had been warnings to the admin about the mods pulling rank and if ZR had been properly notified (as she obviously wasn't), this plan could have gone off without a hitch.
However, all we ordinary average wankers got was a screaming "OMGyouallsuck!" rant, and *poof!*. I mean, hell - what were we supposed to think? Consider things from OUR point of view?
And yeah, I see the point about wanting to follow the true f_w spirit by ending wank with wank, but right now I'm more reminded of the Elitist Asshat community from wanks of yore when they tried to justify their wankiness with "OMGupplitzonlySATIRE!1!!1!!one!11!!" and were the only ones that saw it as funny. Plus, like I said, if the problem was truly that serious, maybe someone should have gotten a bit more serious in response to it.
Owning up to it and acknowledging that what went down yesterday was a mistake would likely have gotten people to see a bit more of the funny AND the point. This high-and-mightiness killed that chance.

Dear "Brad" (Or whoever it is that deleted the only reason I got a JF account) -
Greetings.
Last time I checked, fandom_wank has (I should say "had" - thanks for nothing) WELL OVER A THOUSAND MEMBERS. This was before CrystalWank, so none of that "it's all the noobz!" drivel, please. Now, then - how many people that were actually making trouble?? I doubt there were even a hundred. Compare that to the vast majority of average wankers like myself who are pretty quiet and just here to kick back, chill, and laugh at the splooge, and you'll find that most of us are just peaceful wank-loving citizens who never did anything to cause problems, and only want to mock teh wank like normal.
Of course, now, there's no fun to be had for those of us that were only there to have a good time and not start trouble. Not cool, man. Not cool AT ALL.
As you said in your little mod tantrum post - Congratulations, you did it. You've outdone Crystal Gamgee. Deleting f_w has GOT to be the wankiest thing EVER. This eclipses Wankstock '04 by far, and not in a good way.
