It's an ordinary thing with Lee. It's not as noticable in her more "straight SF" books (Electric Forest, Day by Night, Sabella) but it's there.
If you can, find her her Flat Earth series, The Birthgrave and its two sequels. The former feels a lot like the Arabian Nights, and the latter... um. I can't say too much without spoiling the whole series, but she pulls off something you never see in fanfiction (not even darkfic writers have touched it, afaict), and makes it work. |
