| Dancing With The Stars Final Elimination |
[Nov. 27th, 2007|10:18 pm] |
Hightlights:
1. Marie coming in third. \o/
2. Wayne Newton stating his doctors told him not to dance and his suspicion that it was really because they'd seen the show.
3. Marie coming in third. *G*
4. The Mel and Helio highlights before their final competition.
5. Marie coming in third. *g*
6. 10 10 10 for Mel's mambo which is on tempo and danced on the correct beats (something that seems surprisingly difficult for many).
7. Marie coming in third. ;-)
8. Helio dancing the quickstep again! Yay! Not to mention the 10 10 10.
9. Marie coming in third. :-)
10. The music being absolutely on for the final competition.
11. YAY HELIO!!!!! |

I missed the beginning of the show - was Marie a better sport than she was on Monday? Because GAH we discussed her at my dance class and we all agreed not only was the dance horrific, she looked frighteningly bad, but she was a *terrible* sport when the judges critiqued her.
I felt bad for Mel because I thought she was so so good. But Helio - the judges are right, his smile lights up the stage.
Marie was much better on elimination night. I think her entertainer's PR instincts kicked in and she sucked it up after just sucking. (hee)
I felt bad for Mel, too, for exactly that reason. But with the two of them both getting all 10's on the final night, it remained entirely with the viewer voting for the winner and Helio's infectious enthusiasm and obvious joy won it for him, I think. And rightly so.
(It reminded me of the final with Emmett and Mario, where technically Mario was the better dancer -- in both footwork and styling -- but Emmett had that same appeal. And in the long view, having a high profile and very successful pro football player showing the world that it's "okay to dance" is a good thing).
