 | 03:21 pm - Wesbite feedback help please [cross-posted to random_lounge]
A friend of mine and his pals have set up a site: Carbon Geeks. Their aim is to raise money, through ad-revenue, for carbon-offset projects and other environmental organisations. It's similar to the freerice model, but with general knowledge quiz type questions instead of vocabulary testing.
It's only just gone live, and my friend is looking for general feedback, good or bad, so I said I'd post the link here to see if I could generate any.
If anyone would like to check it out and drop a comment here, that would be fab!
Thanks in advance.

 | 04:11 pm - Terry Fox Today marks the 25th anniversary of the start of Terry Fox's Marathon of Hope.
I had never heard of Terry Fox until I met Moose, and didn't really have the full story until recently.
In a (very tiny) nutshell, Terry was a young cancer survivor who decided to raise money for cancer research by running across Canada. He ran 26 miles every day, despite having lost a leg the disease.
Sadly, Terry never completed his journey, stricken down by cancer which appeared in his lungs.
All of the news footage I have seen of him makes me cry. He was so humble, he really didn't think he was doing anything special.
I believe one of the ideas he had was for every Canadian to donate just one dollar to cancer research, and in this light, a one-dollar coin has been released in his honour.
I don't think he'll mind if I hang onto mine when I get one, and instead donate some of the boring ones instead. Current Mood: humbled

 | 09:18 am - "Lots of planets have a North." I watched the new Doctor Who last night.
I was really enjoying it, right up until the moment my tape cut out, about 10 minutes or so before the end.
So, if anyone would like to let me know what happened after the Millennium wheel turned blue (trying to be as vague as poss to avoid the need for a spoiler cut), I'd be most grateful.

 | 01:27 am - Two for the price of one, oh yesssss. Hey buxton, I forgot to ask when I had you on-line, have you seen any trailers for The Island?
In Quicktime, as that is the only thing that works on this dread machine right now: International teaser trailer

 | 08:08 pm - If you're going to San Francisco...
dearest left today *sob*. This past week has just flown by. It was so fantastic to see her again after so long, though, now that she has gone, I could almost believe I imagined the whole visit.
I showed her a few of the sights - the Dyke, the local park and lake, Stanley Park, Capilano Suspension Bridge. We went cycling and ice-skating, and even managed to squeeze in a trip to the cinema (The Ring 2).
There was also drinking. The better part of a large bottle of vanilla absolut and a large bottle of Khalua. Happily, I discovered that shots of Khalua and milk will get me nicely tipsy, without any of the usual nasty side-effects. Huzzah!
I got an email from my Mum at the weekend. It consisted mostly of OMGSqueeeeeeeeDEARESTsqueeeeBIGhugsELEVENTYONE, but right at the end she wrote - "Sean Bean had his Land Rover stolen - does buxton know?"
So, Buxton, did you know?
Oh, speaking of the Bean, we watched the trailer for the Island yesterday. The Ewan+The Bean=yay!
Also, this trailer for The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is the best thing ever! Stephen Fry as the voice of the Book as well as scary trailer voice man? Superb.

 | 12:47 pm - An unexpected visitor Last night, Moose was acting strangely. Bizarre phone calls, popping in and out of the house, cleaning everything in the house.
Anyway, he went out to get some cigarettes, and two hours later came back with dearestOMG!
I haven't seen dearest since December 2000, when she moved to Hong Kong and I moved out to Canada for the first time. She looks fabulous.
I can't believe she's actually here, or that Moose managed to keep it a secret. I don't know how long they have been planning this, but I am so happy that she is here.
We only have a week, so I am racking my brains to work out the things she NEEDS to see while she is here. buxton, if you can think of owt, from a tourist's point of view, please let me know.
Apparently, Dearest had a massive amount of delays on her journey, poor thing had been travelling for twenty-four hours by the time she got here - but I'm sure she'll make an entry to describe the nightmare that was her journey.
I'm still in shock. Dearest! Here! In Canada! In my apartment! There is not enough yay! in the world to describe how great this is 8D Current Mood: Fan-Fucking-tastic

 | 01:28 pm - Hey, let's all rag on a dying woman. Hours of fun guaranteed. I am feeling very sickened at the moment, due to the callousness of a few people involved in the Heidi/Christina wank.
What she said
Don't even get me started on teh_one. If ever there was someone who needed to be kicked out of the species, stat, it's teh_one.
For the record, I think Heidi was entitled to refuse to put a link in her journal. It's all the shit that followed that has left me incoherent with rage.

 | 02:16 pm - Oooooeeeeeooooooooooooooo-ooooooooooooooooooh I saw a trailer for the new Doctor Who on CBC last night! Apparently it will be shown in April - yay!
OMG! I am so excited about this. I had no idea it was going to be shown over here. I just assumed I'd never get to see it.
Thank you CBC. Roll on April!
[eta] I just read the Doctor Who wank over the leaked episode 'Rose'. The leak may be CBC's fault. Blame Canada! Current Mood: Amped Current Music: Take Me I'm Yours - Squeeze

 | 01:55 pm - Mum Meant to mention that I spoke to my Mum this week, she'd just been to the hospital, and all is well. They don't want to see her again for another three weeks, which is pretty good considering that when I was over, I was taking her to the hospital every other day.
Thanks again to everyone who expressed support/concern 8)

 | 11:18 am - Blah blah, dreams, blah blah. Damn! Forgot to set the video for 'Good Morning America', which Keanu was supposed to be on. Oh well. Let's hope I remember to tape 'Letterman' tonight.
I dreamt about Jack Davenport last night. He was wearing a long black coat, and looked gorgeous, despite his rather crap haircut. We walked down the street together, talking and laughing. Come to think of it, when I had that Jude Law dream, we were walking down the same street. Jude's long coat was charcoal, rather than black.
Hmm, just read that Josh Groban wank. He is considered a pretty-boy? In which alternate universe? Current Mood: crampy Current Music: This Mess We're In - PJ Harvey

 | 01:46 am - Dream journal I just had a look at my poor, neglected Dream Journal. I really must update there more often. Having said that, I've been having trouble recalling my dreams lately, so that doesn't help.
Unsurprisingly, my most-viewed dream appears to be Will Keanu's penis ever be the same?. I hadn't realised it is over a year old though, as that dream is still fairly fresh in my memory.
I had a Keanu dream this week come to think of it. He turned into Moose, and no parts of his penis fell off. Perfect 8) Current Mood: sleepy Current Music: Nobody Loves Us - Morrissey
