wank_report: someone recced a fic by msscribe to crack_broom, not knowing the history.
*dies*
(Between this one and the one about the vision-impaired hiker who got lost on the AT, I had to sit on my hands to avoid wanking on
wank_report!)

6:29PM - Even educated fleas do it
I long for the days when talking to your kids about sex was more or less limited to the mechanics.

8:01PM - In formerly communist Russia...
I posted about this on my LJ but no one said anything, so I'll try here instead:
Has anyone else been getting friended on LJ by random Russian people who then defriend a few weeks later? By "random," I mean people I have *no* common interests or friends with, who rarely, if ever, have any entries posted, and all of whom seem to have created their journals in early June; by "Russian," I mean that their profile pages (and any entries) are almost entirely in Cyrillic. It's been happening on both my regular LJ and my fic LJ for at least 2 months now, and I'm really at a loss as to what the hell is going on (and it's starting to annoy the bejabbers out of me).
Anyone else getting the same thing, or have I just been (randomly) targeted as part of some bizarre social experiment?

1:56PM - 2007 Fic wrap-up (slightly redacted)
I posted this to my fic journal on LJ last night, but since I haven't posted here in over 2 months, I thought, "Eh, what the hell." I find myself having this thought rather frequently. :-P
January 29:
Midsummer Night's Dream. Written for the Fifth Wave of
hpgw_ficafest. Harry/Ginny, George/Luna. "Midsummer was always the most difficult time of year. There would be moments when Ginny became absolutely convinced someone was standing right behind her, but whenever she turned around, no one was there." (8,300)
( Thoughts on Midsummer Night's Dream )
March 25:
Soundtrack. Originally written as a potential submission for
catchmysnitch. Harry/Ginny. Harry never realized what a constant feature of his life with Ginny the radio had been until she was gone. (1,400)
April 13:
Contrefaire. Written for the 2007
springtime_gen exchange. Gen. Ron and Professor McGonagall find themselves caught up in a bank robbery. (6,700)
( Thoughts on Contrefaire )
May 21:
Exit Interview. Gen. On the night of Professor Dumbledore's death, Goyle receives a summons. (2,100)
( Thoughts on Exit Interview )
June-?:
The Golden Horn. WIP with 5 chapters so far. Harry/Ginny, Ginny/Viktor, Ron/Hermione. The war is finally over and Harry is ready to get on with his life. Most importantly, he wants to pick up where he left off with Ginny. First, though, he'll have to come to terms with the fact that Ginny didn't put her life on hold and wait for him to come back to her. (11,100 so far)
( Thoughts on The Golden Horn )
August 30:
Covenant and Consecration. Written for the Sixth Wave of
hpgw_ficafest. Harry/Ginny. Harry forgets about his role as godfather until someone reminds him. Now he has to decide what's best for his godson. (6,500)
( Thoughts on Covenant and Consecration )
September-?:
The Transformation of Ducklings. WIP with 5 chapters so far. Rose/Scorpius, Ron/Hermione, Draco/OFC. Rose Weasley-Granger and Scorpius Malfoy aren't about to let decades of enmity between their fathers get in the way of their friendship. As two shy, awkward teenagers wrestling with the onset of first love, they've got enough obstacles to overcome. (21,300 so far)
( Thoughts on The Transformation of Ducklings )
January 1: (it counts because I wrote it in December)
Ex Tempore. Originally intended as a submission piece for
catchmysnitch. Harry/Ginny. Harry makes the most of a break in his Auror training. (2,700)
Total word count for 2007: ~ 60,000. Not bad, given the way they're all spread out and what a difficult year it's been for me. I've still got the 2 WIPs going simultaneously (most of what I've produced (overall, not just in 2007) has been one-shots), so that's been a challenge. On the plus side, it means I've got projects already in place to kick-start the new year.
I'd like to be more prolific in 2008, if thesis and other school commitments will allow it. I definitely want to write more Harry/Ginny, as well as more character-driven fic (both goals I set for myself last January). Hopefully, now that I no longer have archive responsibilities weighing me down, that will come to pass.
Thanks for reading, but most of all thanks for all the wonderful, thoughtful reviews (even the negative ones)! Though I'm not very good at responding, I take every comment to heart and use them to try to improve, increment by increment. Not every fic can be a "Midsummer Night's Dream," but I learn something new from everything I write. :-D

8:46AM - Oh, those haunty jaunty angels
For some reason, stumbling across spelling errors in fanfic often reminds me of this poem:
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.

*waves to new additions to JF f-list* I don't post here very often, and when I do it's usually something I don't want to post to my LJ (usually because of the potential for causing trouble or offense). Most of the time I just hang out at the various wank and other comms on JF. But I'm glad to have you all here all the same. :-)
