Obscure Anime/Manga Fandoms [24 May 2004|08:19pm]
Meme stolen from started by [info]smo, only I've gone and changed it to "obscure anime and manga" for myself, as I tend to deal more with the latter. I don't know how "obscure" some of these are, or if some even have English-speaking fandoms, but they're some of the better little-known series I've come across.

Get behind the cut! )

From other people, recs I haven't had much (or any) chance to check out yet for myself )

Yeah, so that's my list. I think it's hard for me to get any more obscure until I become better at Japanese...

"It's color--no wait, it's black and white. Argh, I'm confused!" [06 May 2004|08:18pm]
The tiniest CLAMP-related wank ever. Still, I just had to share it (may cross-post this later to [info]fandom_wank).

I'm on the CML (CLAMP ML). The other day, someone wrote asking for more information on the new Del Rey release of Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle (thread). We learn from the responses that Del Rey reproduced the first few pages of the first chapter in black and white as in the original, and also included the color version from the Japanese hardcover release. Not too shabby.

Still, this causes problems for StaryuB:

"I have both XXXHolic and Tsubasa that I bought last week at my local Suncoast (cuz I was handing in a job application there) and I am still somewhat shocked and confused as to why they printed both the color and black and white pages. However, that is what they have done. (believe me, it confused the heck out of me...)"

Not much wank here, I know. I just find it tremendously amusing that some fans are getting all uptight even as the companies go out of their way for them.

For more fun, type "StaryuB" and "poetry" into Google.

ETA: It seems Del Rey has set the new industry standard for manga.

Wank Club [14 Apr 2004|11:30pm]
Because you know if there were a Fight Club for fangirls, it'd be all about the snark instead of physical brutality.

  • First Rule of Wank Club- Don't reply when you've been wanked.
  • Second Rule- Don't be a dickhead if you did get wanked.
  • Third Rule- When someone says "stop," we point and laugh at them.
  • Fourth Rule- As many parties as necessary to a wank. No, it's not fair. Don't expect it to be.
  • Fifth Rule- One wank at a time. And a lot of divergent subthreads.
  • Sixth Rule- No common sense, no manners.
  • Seventh Rule- Wanks go on until everyone gets bored or the thread gets closed.
  • Eight Rule- If this is your first time at Wank Club, watch out for the cock.
(Thanks to [info]eag for helping with 1, 2, and 8. And these probably require a disclaimer of sorts, so I'll just admit they're all blatantly ripped off of Chuck Palahniuk's original concept. So there.)

[ mood | Slashy ]

New journals are such fun to play with. I went ahead and took advantage of the overrides (then got lazy and stopped mid-way). The guys in the background are from "Yaizu Brothers, Fuckin' Cool!!!" by Shiuko Kano. Yes, that is the real title. The characters' names are Ryuusei (left) and Ichirou (right) Yaizu. Not like it matters much. Mm, incesty.

Random (non-work-safe) link: Hey look, it's Prawn pr0n!

Check out my mood. I love JF!

Yo [29 Sep 2003|11:17am]
I am here. Thanks, [info]rinoared, for the code. I don't know how much posting I'll be doing in this journal, as I'm mainly here for [info]fandom_wank, so head on over to the LiveJournal for the good stuff.
