i'm going to destroy any feeble cred i may have had by saying... i kind of really want to see superbad again. and then request fic in it for yuletide. it's not even out yet, is it?
there were two reasons i wanted to see it the first time. michael cera, obviously, but then also for a moment from the trailer, in between all the gross-out and embarrassment-squick stuff. ( can you spoil for a trailer? unsure. )
there certainly is inane stuff in the movie. the whole subplot with the cops is funny, sure, but it makes absolutely no sense. it *is* gross-out. it *does* hit my embarrassment squick and *hard*. the seth character i find particularly difficult to take at times. but on the other hand, there are things it does astonishingly well. pretty much all of the interactions with girls are given plenty of time to be painfully awkward and real.
and then there's the boys together. oh *boys*. the imdb described it as a story about two co-dependent friends suffering from separation anxiety about going off to college. SO TRUE. their relationship is what the movie's *really* about ( but you can certainly spoil for a movie. )
(also, mclovin' rules.)
and, like i've said elsewhere, i would like RPS about the screenwriters nao plz. they started writing it as teenagers, and it's about *them*. come on, people! i think i need more some minions.
eta 8/20/07 'Superbad': The Summer's Greatest Movie About Guys Who Love Guys. "These guys all dance around their gay tendencies and can laugh about it, but they never laugh at it. There's a difference. There are a couple of minor misuses of variations on the word "fag," but you're sort of able to forgive them in the scheme of things."
troooo business.

i started the second season of "dexter" tonight (leaked episodes for the win) and now i think i will DIE before it starts for real. so, well done, marketing! i'm not sure yet how it compares to the first season -- these are still the fall-out and set-up episodes -- but i still *adore* angel (who's gotten even more fun with his new-found oprah-based philosophy on life) and maria is so diabolical (so different from velez's character on "oz".) and dexter & deb's relationship continues to be fascinating. why couldn't -i- have a serial killer for a brother? (although, who knows. maybe i do.)
now i have to wait two months to see what happens next, though, so perhaps this was not the best plan ever. i am so not smart. but if you *haven't* seen it yet, it comes out on dvd in a week and a half, so you have plenty of time to catch up and write me fic.
