You know what I kind of hate? In LJ communities, or internet communities in general, when there's a disagreement of some kind by a large-ish sector in the community to some rule or decision by the mod, and the mod replies saying something like, "Look, this isn't a democracy and I never said it was! The community is mine, and if you don't like it, you can leave!" (A good example is ![[info]](http://www.journalfen.net/img/userinfo.gif) tviokh in her little Deleterius Swastika wank that happened about a year ago.)
Yes, it is a rational statement in itself. It is the mod's community, nobody said it was a democracy, therefore what s/he says goes. The reason I hate it, though, is because it's just an amazingly fucking self-centred, egotistical thing to do. Why shouldn't a community be a democracy? What kind of mod are you if you're power-trip-tastic enough to not listen to the demands of the majority of your community's members? You're ruining it for them because of what you want and you happen to have the power? To me, that's just stupid.

Well, I wrote this in response to this wank, but it's probably just as well, because I was wanking all over the place. BUT I WANNA POST COMMENTS! ashenmote, it's not just you anymore!!!

None of those bands are post-punk. Post-punk existed in the early 80s and was characterized by bands like Gang of Four and Joy Division. This person is trying to make up their own definition of post-punk: "shit that's influenced by 90s pop-punk and came after it." No, and in fact, you are the weakest link, goodbye.
Don't even get me started on emo. Evanescence and Linkin Park are not emo. Emo is not just sad rock.
You can't just make up your own meanings for words based on what you think they should be. Think of it like art history: abstract impressionism, cubism, socialist realism. They are terms for certain artistic movements that existed in specific social and historical contexts.
Oh man, I'm making a mess over here. I'll clean up. sorry about that.

This is one of those synchonicity things - I've come across several people in the last week on the internet who are against vaccinations. Now, I'm well aware that there are a lot of nutty people on the interweb, but I just don't see the motivation behind being against vaccinations. Is it political? Spiritual? I know Ned Flanders thinks "they're controlling our minds with flu shots," but I've never met anyone IRL who does.
