| | Kevin Mockingbird ... A Cricket's Love | ] | Big Bopper's coffin to be sold on eBay
01/05/2009 4:00 PM, Yahoo! Music courtesy of NME.com
The son of iconic '50s rock n' roller the Big Bopper has said he plans to sell his late father's casket--which he was buried in for 48 years--on eBay in the next few weeks.
The Big Bopper, real name J.P. Richardson, died along with Buddy Holly and Richie Valens in a plane crash in 1959. The accident has since become known as "the day the music died" after Don McLean recalled the incident in his massive-selling 1972 U.S. number one "American Pie."
The 16-gauge steel casket was exhumed from its original resting place in 2007, because Richardson's son wanted to move his father to a more visible location, reports The Beaumont Enterprise.
"I have no personal use for the casket," Richardson said. "When you get down to it, it is just a metal box. More important is what this particular metal box represents.
"In another 200 years, will people care about rock 'n' roll?" he continued. "Who knows? But why would I want to destroy it? Even though it was dad's resting place for 48 years, it's also a unique opportunity to learn more about the early years of rock 'n' roll."

| I have a whacky Idea ... as usual |
[Dec. 28th, 2008|11:53 am] |
This summer, we have decided to add on to the house. We cannot decide if we will go out, or up. The attic is already about 6 feet tall, and we can go up 3 more feet. We were thinking about putting a master suite up there or A HOME THEATRE.
I vote for home theatre, the room I sleep in does not need to be huge. Our is about average size and has a great view. Who needs more?
Anyhoo, I was wondering if there is some way to make the walls of the room the theatre sometimes. For example, if you wanted to just have the scene surround you. Say you are watching Pride and Prejudice, and you know you will in my home theatre, I was wondering if there was some way to make it so the walls are the walls of the room in the scene, the ceiling is the ceiling, the etc. Each wall and the ceiling would be a piece of the scene. It would be like YOU were sitting in the film. Sort of like IMax, but ceiling to floor on all four sides. Does that make any sense or am I thinking of things that are only possible in my world again?? Could you imagine it if you could get Blade Runner or LOTR up in a system like that?
Matt says he will see what can be done like it, if that is what I want. If that fails, I want my home theatre to look like a Hookah Den. |

[Dec. 24th, 2008|08:47 am] |
Matt is on his way home., the water is on, and the cupboards are well stocked!
It is raining now, instead of snowing, which is kind of sad as the kids should at least get a white Crimbo after all this. But I, myself, am very content.
Happy Holidays! |

| | Candy-Coated | ] | My house is officially snowed in till after the first of the year. They have been plowing MAJOR roads, and will start on secondary roads next week... they will NEVER plow my road. It is little more than an alley and there is only one other house up here. I am mere minutes from downtown, but in this weather, I might as well be in AK. At least the best Italian eatery in Seattle is only 2 blocks from my house and has been open every night since Snowpocalypse 2008 started. They are doing a booming business with the starving locals, as well as the neighbourhood alcoholics that have run out of wine!
It could be worse, I will just walk the 2 miles to Alki Beach to get Cat food and stop by The Celtic Swell for a nutty Irishman if it all falls apart!
Wish me luck! |
