Hmmmm.... The basics.

I'm a 37 38 39 40 41 year old female, from Long Island, New York.

I was an avid volleyball player - both indoor and outdoor venues - (for @25 years) until I was sidelined with knee and shoulder injuries in September, 2004. The knee is fine now, the shoulder... still not 100% but better. I miss playing, but haven't been able to get back to it because...

In the autumn of 2005, I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, which, needless to say, had put a slight crimp in my plans for pretty much anything. I try not to talk about it too much. It's there, it's annoying and I loathe taking medication to begin with.

I love to ski (when I get the opportunity), I love camping, and I used to love hiking (getting old sucks). I'm very much an outdoors person, and I live right by the beach. *waves to ocean out the window*

I was a tomboy in my youth and I love most sports. I can't sew, I handed in my "love2shop" badge ages ago (I used to be a total JAP (sans attitude) too!), and I'd take my Teevas and Timberlands over Manolo Blahniks any day. In fact, I didn't even know what a Manolo Blahnik was until Sex and the City. I do however bitch and moan about my hair (far too often), I like (and wear) makeup, and manicures and pedicures rock.

I'm also a bit of an amateur astronomy geek, and several times during the year (weather permitting) I stay out all night to watch meteor showers. You should too, as they are totally cool and awesome and gorgeous.

But otherwise, I'm fairly bookish in nature. I read a lot (and re-read a lot of my books), computers have become the death of me because I spend far too much of my time on them, and when I get the itch, I write Trixie Belden and Harry Potter fanfic. Most of my HP fics are generally Marauder-themed which tend to be Remus/Sirius in nature, though I do like gen stories and other pairings as well. (And I wrote Lucius/Stan! *g*) But my first love are those pesky marauders. I also co-mod

hp_springsmut (Over at livejournal here), the annual rare pairs fic and art fest.

I'm also somewhat ~~obsessed~~ enamored with the new series of Dr Who (The Ninth and Tenth Doctors and especially Captain Jack) and Torchwood so don't be surprised to find me waxing rhapsodical on that front. It's so shiny! *g*

For obsessed, that would be Loveless, at least at present. I've never had even a passing interest in anime or manga before, and now I just can't stop myself. (I thoroughly blame

paranoidsistah and

inksheddings as my vile enablers!) But damn - Soubi is just too damn pretty! (and whoops! Looks like I popped the proverbial fanfic cherry here, too. *facepalm*)

I'm a paralegal, but I'd like to do something else eventually (though what that "something else" is, I have no idea).

With regard to friending, no need to ask first - I have no 'policy' about it and I rarely friendslock. My journal is mostly fandom-related, though I do ramble about myself and my life on occasion. While I don't friend everyone back, I do read and browse through journals of people who friend me, and I'll also occasionally browse my friendsfriends page. I try to keep my flist manageable for me and I don't believe in filtering out personal journals because that sort of defeats the purpose of friending people in the first place. (The only journals I filter out of my regular reading are some fic-only journals and communities) That said, I suppose I should also state the obvious: if I friend you, there's no obligation to friend me back.

And for the sake of propriety *cough* I should add a little "warning" for anyone under 18. Yes, most of the fic, and a good portion of the content will be adult in nature. Sometimes I have a potty mouth. (Ah, well, there's no accounting for maturity, but I never promised you a rose garden either.)
